    Insignia NS-LCD37-09 Bad Processor?

    Hi all,

    I have an Insignia NS-LCD37-09 that appears to have what I believe is a bad main processor. The backlight and lcd screen don't turn on, the powerboard does not receive signal from the main board to turn on the backlight and the T-con board doesn't seem to get any power from the main board. All the voltages from the powerboard check ok and all regulators on the main board seem to be within 0.5V of the voltages specified in the service manual (link below). I have also checked the fuses for opens and capacitors for bulging, and there don't appear to be any.

    The tv will flash the red led 15 times, then stay solid. Upon turning on, the led changes to blue until the tv is powered down. I have tried shining a bright light into the panel, however there is no indication the LCD panel is displaying anything. I have tried using a heatgun to warm and reflow the main board, however it doesn't seem to have any effect.

    If you have any insight to this issue, please let me know. I am out of ideas.

          I don't thinks thats the issue, I get the correct voltages coming from the power board.

                  You can try heating the main processor with a hair dryer to see if it comes to life (bga solder joints)

                      Heating the main processor with a hair drier did not fix it, but the red LED blinks 5 times when plugged in and 15 times after the set is turned off.

                          did you try unplug bl-on connector from power board or main board and see if the back lights come on?

                              Sorry, are you referring to simulating a signal to power on the powerboard and backlights?

                              Yes, I was able to simulate the backlight on signal, and there was no display on the unit and the backlight did turn on

                                      maybe try a firmware update if the tv is able to.

                                          This TV doesn't seem to have a port to update the firmware through, although this manual reference "Zoran 770 software" on page 34. There is a reset button, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

                                              Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

                                              Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:

                                              Short answer: replace main board and power board
                                              Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                                              Long answer:

                                              TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

                                              Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?

                                              I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
                                              Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...
