ok ill buy a tcon and see if it fixes

i remmeber q few yrs ago i had an philips and screen was blank and it was main board but i dont remember if it had sound or not

this tv does have sound and everything functions other than display..even the power light comes on good and doesnt blink or anyhting

nomoresonys im not sure what you are talking about ...my posting says there is a backlight so im really not sure what shining a flashlight on screen would accomplish

if i disconnect the lvds cable the tv will not power on....does that mean anything at all?..if main board was bad and not communicating with tcon why wouldnt tv not turn on like it does when i disconnect it?.....to me if there is no signal being sent that would be just like unplugging cable correct? or no?.....so far it seems to me it would be a more than 50% chance its the tcon and not main.....what doi you think?

If T-CON is not connected and if this TV does use feedback signal from T-CON to tell the main board is not working or not present, then that may be what you have.
Sony does use that kind of the setup to know if the T-CON not functioning or not.
It is 50/50 right now as to which board is bad.

thanks ..common sense says if 50/50 then go with the cheaper option which is tcon

i just bought a tcon for 10.00 free ship on ebay

ill update when i get it

im also still trying to troubleshoot my 60 inch sharp lcd with same issue...powers on fine...backlight on...sound on...no display at all.....with that one i get 12v to tcon from ps and i also get a bunch of 3.3v from another cable coming from main

yes full return policy...have ordered from seller before...however there would be no way to tell if board is good or bad since i dont know what exactly ius causing the issue but if it doesnt work i will return it anyways lol

and its way more than half price of shop jimmy since shopp jimmy charges 9.99 shipping

i just wish there was a way i could be more confident in my choice..i dont like 50/50

i think the sound being on is a good sign though....and everything seems to function other than display...if it was main i would think other issues would arise such as error codes or not powering on or sound not working...

hi i saw online that to further tell if tcon or main ...if you turn tv on and then mess with tcon connection if there is no change at all to the display while taking off and putting back on.....then its the main board

is this true?

happy holidays

update

received tcon board today and installed it and no change still no display at all display just dark no picture or onscreen menu and backlight on and sound on

i then decided to experiment....i disconnected right tcon to panel ribbon cable and left the left side connected and power on tv....once i did that the left half of screen now had a display (on screen menu) and right side was now bright white with no display at all.

i did this with both new tcon and original tcon and same exact result

i then disconnected the left tcon to panel ribbon cable and conneced the right tcon to panel ribbon and result both sides were black although one side looked a little lighter than the other but both were dark no display

im not sure whats going on at all....any ideas?

That means you have bad panel.

thats not good....are you 100% sure?......no way it could be a main issue?

i have no clue just asking....i know you know a lot but i just want to make sure before i tear tv apart for parts...

It has the same problem as the LG I worked on awhile back, but my T-CON board was making the squealing sound and the switching power supply was getting hot due to shorted TFT driver IC on the panel.

is there anything i can do to verify...using multimeter?

im going to do this with my 60 inch sharp same issue backlight on no display and sund ok....when i get home see if it has same result or similar......

its a very nice tv...top of line back then for a 32inch

120hz...1080p...built in subwoofer...etc etc
