I got this tv from a defaulted pawn loan it is a LG 42LM3700 3D Cinema TV. when we took this unit in it was working, not it is not. when PWR button is activated the tv blinks a red LED 3 times and does nothing. I have Taken the back off and searched for bulging caps or burnt components but I've come up empty handed. Here are some pics of what Im working with. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
A good step would be to start making voltage measurements on the top left connector on the power board. There is a legend next to it, which will help you tell what voltages you should expect:

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
Tom66 I did as you said and tested the pins on the psu board for the inverter and half are labeled 24v and the other half ground and im getting no voltage from any of the pins labeled 24v. So does that mean bad psu board?Comment

ok, go ahead and test the fuse on the tcon, it starts with F. http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-6871l-2981b-t-con-board.htmComment

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
now test the voltages on the other connector on the power supply, the label is right there beside it, as always be careful working with power supply, HIGH VOLTAGE, on primary side can be deadly.Last edited by nomoresonys; 02-01-2015, 09:19 AM.Comment

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
also try unhook cable from power supply to mainboard, turn tv on see if backlights come on, with your 24volts missing, they prob. wont.Comment

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
not sure, the mainboard may not be sending the ps on signal, which would prob. mean a mainboard issue.Comment

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
need more frequent updates, you got two whole tests done in a month, at this rate you oughta have it fixed by 2020.Last edited by nomoresonys; 02-01-2015, 09:41 AM.Comment

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
ok well i broke down and bought a mainboard and guess what?.......
problem is still here, my guess is that its a bad psu. now my question is how do i go about trying to repair the psu myself? there is no voltage on labeled pins and no burn components or bulging/leaking capsComment

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
Hi,
I am having the same problem with this TV as well. Nomoresonys you mention that I should test each pin which is in the upper left two row of pins. When I use my mulimeter I assume that I need to test each one with the positive terminal. Where do I hook up the negative to? Also I see the largest value is 24V. So I just need to set the mulitmeter to something that is above 24V correct?
Thanks,
NickComment

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
Here is an update. I was able to find a Youtube video on testing the voltage and found the following:
While off the PWR-ON pin shows 3.5-3.6V. Turning the unit on the PWR-ON pin drops to 0V.
While on I tested a few of the 12V on the left side of the right connector and none of the three showed any voltage. Also the 24V on the left side and right side had no voltage. The only pins that showed any voltage was the four (2 left and 2 right) 3.5V which all showed between 3.5V and 3.6V while the TV was on and off. This appears to be the issue as I assume that the PWR-ON dropping from 3.5V to 0 means that the system is powered on.
If anyone has anything additional to add I would appreciate it, otherwise I'll be ordering a new board off of ebay.
Thanks,

Re: LG 42in LG 42LM3700 Not powering on
the D605 nearby bridge (+,-,~,~), model number is MUR460AX (4A/600V ultra fast diode). this diode is the key diode between the ac and dc circuit. your voltage lost 24vdc, I believe 12vdc and 3.5vdc lost as well. all the dc voltage is started from this diode.
remove the diode from board and test the bridge first, see if ac 110v-120v in and 170-180vdc send out.
you might can fix that old damaged board by checking this diode.
Good luck.Comment

by valvashonThe 55" LG has been in the basement for a few months without being used. Turned it on yesterday, set came on as it should and showed a complete screen for about 5 seconds (was on a broadcast channel but no antenna was connected), then the screen went mostly dark with about 1/3 of the screen on the right lighting up with brighter lines in that lit part (sorry, no pictures of that). Power LED was cycling too, preventing the TV from fully powering up.
Pulled the back off, all boards looked OK. Pulled the LED connector, turned the set on to see if it would power up but I don't belive it... -
by DarKHawKHi,
I have an Asus 2021 ROG Strix G17 G713 that is not powering on and not charging. Board number is G533-6050A3250201.
When plugged in, I found that the 3.3v/5v regulator was getting extremely hot, so I removed, next I found a short on the 3.3V rail. Removed the two 3.3v mosfets and found one of them shorted, but still the short on the rail did not clear. Then I injected voltage at that rail, and found out that U60400 the 2.5v rail was also getting hot. Removing it changed the short from 0 ohms to about 5-6 ohms, then I remove a bunch of other suspect components but that did... -
Hello Everyone!
I have an Acer Aspire A315-42 laptop. I generally leave it on for long time by closing down its lid (so it enters the sleep mode). Recently, it rained quite heavily in out area. And the humidity and moisture seem to be high. So one late evening, after I opened the lid and turned on the laptop, it did power on as the blue light turned on but after it booted to the desktop screen, just 5-10 seconds after both the screen and blue light went out and laptop shut down (the blue power light turned orange). And after 2-4 seconds that orange light went off and the laptop died....06-28-2025, 02:57 PM -
by ShadowAi12Hi,
I recently bought an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING motherboard that was listed as "dead, not powering on." However, it does show some signs of life. I've performed several basic measurements and would like to share the results.- The board enters a "ready to power on" state after plugging in the PSU.
- Pressing the power button increases power draw.
- Sometimes, touching the RSMRST_L pad with a multimeter probe causes the board to shut off and return to standby.

by TechSplendidHi All,
I'm working on a MacBook Pro A2442 (14", 2021) that's not powering on. On two out of three USB-C ports, I get 5V and the current briefly ramps up to around 0.210A before dropping to 0.036A. On the third port (JF600), I only get 0.0045A and it stays there.
Initially, I suspected a faulty CD3217 on that port, especially since I noticed signs of previous liquid damage near the JF600 USB connector. I replaced the CD3217 with an UF400 (from an A2442 donor board from the same location). According to the supplier, this should be a compatible version, but the behavior... - Loading...
