    Panasonic th-p42x10z

Hi guys! Thanks in advance for the help!

    SYMPTOMS:
TV was working fine until going into storage in the garage for 6 months. Possibly a little cold and damp, but nothing beyond usual. Now, TV will turn on no problem but upon turning on a second time, will not power up – just green LED then straight to blinking either 2 or 3 red blinks (seems to randomly be either code).

If I disconnect the TV for 24 hours and let discharge, can then plug in and turn on no problem. But if turning off after 10 sec or half hour (does’t seem to make a difference), will not be able to turn on again. Same blinking red LEDs. Seems to be related to the A-board according to the blink codes.

    SERVICE MANUALS:
I cannot find the exact service manual. I believe this is an Australia/New Zealand model, maybe named something else in other areas. This is the closest I could find that looked like the same layouts:
    1)

    OR Perhaps
    2)

    WHAT I'VE TRIED:
    1. Done a basic resistance check on the 3 fuses I could find on the power board. Seem kosher.
    2. Looked for bad caps. Can't find any swelling on any board (though I know they're not always visibly broken).
Also note some cables have already been unplugged so I could check under the A-board.

I should mention I’m only starting to get into this stuff, have fairly basic knowledge, but am willing to research and learn. That’s why I’m here (but also because I wanna get my TV back haha ).

    THANKSSSSS
    Gil

Hi there. I'm not sure what you're directing me to. It's not a monitor. It's a plasma TV...

For 7 blinks I'd be investigating Sc, sd, su boards. 3 clicks is normal sequence when the tv is powered, the third is it when it shutsdown with the eeror blinks

The flow chart does not always say something. Did you use the 2011 flow chart or the older ones?

I would download the service manual here

On the bottom you will see :

This file is downloadable free of charge: ...processing...
Processing will change in "get manual" after a minute.

Check the blink sequence in that manual! You are in new zealand , its midnight here! I'll check this thread tomorrow morning.

              Hope the manual helps

Ok i found the service manual for these models.

                  http://www.toms-service-manuals.com/...&Search=Submit

6 blinks --> DRIVER SOS1 , SC ENERGY RECOVERING CIRCUIT and the manual points to SD/SU or SC board.

Thats the board on the left hand side. Check if you have a SC50 jumper on the SC board , if so then use a harddisk jumper and remove/isolate the buffer boards from the sc board and turn on the tv. If the TV turns on you probably have bad buffer boards.

If you get 7 blinks then the SC board is bad.

Hi Moreno thanks for your replies i had seen that manual in the link you posted before but i found another one which im sure i found through a link on this forum but i can no longer remember how or where i found it so hopefully this link will show you the one i was using http://www.docfoc.com/2009-pdp-troub...07cp-rev091117 the flow chart i was referring to is on page 41 and 42 so i disconnected sc20 like it says and the led flashes changed from 6 to 8 which refers to ss board...anyhow with that changed i was believing that it was probably the sd/su or sc board and thought i would ask here for any suggestions so thank you and i will do the test for those boards tomorrow.
                        cheers

ok so i have now changed the sd/su and sc boards as well as the ss board which i guess leaves the A board...
