    Insignia NS-L42Q-10A T-Con Board Help?

I have an Insignia NS-L42Q-10A (it's an LCD). The screen comes on, but everything is washed out in a bright white tent. I understand this may be the T-Con board. One, can anybody help confirm this? Two, where can I find the board? I've looked around, and the only exact match I can find is from China. Do I have to use the exact same board, or can I use any board that is compatible with this model tv? Pictures and video below (If I posted the links to my OneDrive properly). Sorry, new to the forum, and new to repairing tv's. So bear with me. :-) Thanks in advance!

A washed out picture, too bright indicates the AS-15 is faulty.--Its the chip on the right in your first pic--Very common on an AUO.....

To confirm, you can check the Gamma Voltages on the 20 pads near it marked, VGAMA1 through to VGAMA20....

They should be in a steady climbing stages--Take the voltages and list them here, we'll check em, but 10-1 its the AS-15....

So, chances are, I'll just replace the entire board (if I can find it). That AS-15 looks extremely difficult for a rookie like myself to replace. However, I'd still like to test the pads just for some practice. But, I've sat here looking at the board for 10 minutes and don't see "VGAMA" anywhere. The closest I've found is "VGMA_REF" and a bunch of circles, such as "VG1", VG2", and so on. Are those the pads?

Those are the Gamma Voltage test points, VG1~VG21.

I must be doing something wrong. I have the Innova 3320. I set it to the upper right setting in red (DCV), 1st one to the right of "OFF". I put the black probe on the metal frame/screws, and the red one directly onto the small circular pads (VG1, VG2, and so on). The numbers are all over the place. The first time I did it, the number was in the hundreds. Turned it off and back on. Then the number started around 15 and kept creeping up. I waited about 2 minutes with them touching and the number got up to 28 before I gave up. It wouldn't stop going up. I'm probably doing something wrong?

Re: Insignia NS-L42Q-10A T-Con Board Help?

                  Aye--That'll be my fault!

For this test--Set Must be turned on and displaying picture--such as it is.....

The T-Con has low-voltages, but caution of the backlight board and particularly the PSU board....

Set the meter to read Voltage, a range of 200V will be OK to test the Vgama....
Expect a range of readings from say 2V to 20V in steps each rising say, 1V above the previous, going up from Vg1, (2V) Vg2 (3V) etc

Make a note and post 'em here....

Thanks! May I ask how you can tell? Is it because of the significant drop between 11 and 12?

So you did not get any readings on those blank readings I.E. VG3, VG5, VG7, VG9, etc? If that is the case, it is bad.

Re: Insignia NS-L42Q-10A T-Con Board Help?

Update: I installed a replacement T-Con board and I'm under the assumption it's worse off than my original T-Con board. See the two attached pictures. The original T-Con board gives me the washed out white screen, but at least I can see the display ("no signal"). The replacement board only gives me a backlight.

Attached to these T-Con board are 3 cables. There are 2 ribbons and 1 plug. If I unplug the plug with the original T-Con board, but leave the 2 ribbons in and turn on the tv, I get only backlight (just like I get on the replacement board with all 3 cables plugged in).

So, I'm assuming the plug on the replacement board is bad.

I guess I need to get another replacement T-Con board.

Do you guys agree, disagree, or have any other suggestions/recommendations for me? Thanks again for your help!!!

PS - This was supposedly a "brand new" replacement board (see link below). Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Although they're basically just plug and play, right?

Another update! It was the T-Con board. I just noticed on the replacement board there was a piece broken (just needing to be soldered back down). Not sure what the piece it, but I held it in place to test the tv again and the screen worked normally. No washed out white screen. Thank you guys for all of your help!!
