Panasonic TC-P50U2 (No Power)

Panasonic TC-P50U2

A Friend gave me this unit, don't know any history of it nor what happen before the unit malfunction.

When I plug in the Power Coord, I don't hear any clicks, nor do I get any blinking lights on front panel(No Signs of Life). All I hear is a small humming/whining noise coming from T501..

Checked all Pins, only Pin 1 on P7 has 5v, 0v on all other pins..

Diode D359 seems to test bad in circuit,so i replaced it with a new one anyways.. still continuity both directions while in circuit

Im young and still learning but when I do need help im very grateful for you guys here at badcaps.net always getting me out of a hair pulling situation Thanks!


But I need help again, so if you guys can lead me to the next step I would appreciate it.

Do you have the service manual? D359 sits across a winding on a transformer so will always show short, I can tell you that much at this stage.

From the 42" training guide
Check the SD card slot for metal objects. Check also for bended pins. Make sure that connector P6 on the P board is properly connected.
Check all the connections between the P board and the A board. Make sure P7/A7 is properly seated.

going with your info and the guide, you have no relay clicks

approx. 3.2V at pin 5 of connector P7 on
the P board when the power button is
pressed?

Yes = P board
No = A board because you have already confirmed the 5V

ok pin 5 on P7 has 0V when I press Power button..... so therefor all signs are looking like a fault Main board?

I would say so, if nothing obvious shorting the 3.3V like a coin stuck in the SD slot or something. usually no clicks, no LED ia a dead main board
