Just picked up this set from an individual off craigslist for $5.00 with remote and manual. Got it home and would power up for a few minutes and then go dead. Pulled off back cover and saw two 1000mfd/10v domed caps. Esr was high so I pulled them and they only read 13 to 14 mfd. They were Capxon. Had some new caps on hand and replaced them. Got a decent older LCD with DVD for grandson now. Yeah Buddy!

by cajoegHello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.
The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV... -
by jshhhHi guys,
I've been trying to restore this Yamaha RM1X groove-box I bought, and the first thing on my agenda was to replace a bad capacitor that was making it so that the screen was super dim. As I'm a complete novice I went and accidentally pulled off one of the trace pads for the SMD capacitor as I was removing it, pulling up some of the green PCB with it. I've been trying to repair it by gluing down copper tape from where it began to pull off and solder the capacitor on after...atm I've just been attempting to do the same kind of thing on rubbish PCBs I got at a recycling place,...1 Photo-

by valvashonI have been going round and round with this one for a couple of years. It's a 16x10 display that allows you to size your OTA picture correctly to 16x9 and that makes it kind of cool so I really want to keep it on my OTA monitoring wall. Accidentially let a screw roll under the powered power supply board and ended up replacing the MOSFET drivers for the inverters, then one of the Schottky rectifiers for one of the supplies, then the PS caps becuase I fired the parts cannon at it one day.
Problem was no cold startup; it would only startup when you applied a heat gun to the board.... -
by valvashonHaving a new problem with the 19" Insignia that I modified with one of my automatic turn on circuits. That is now completely disconnected so that is not the issue. I was doing some modifications on that circuitry and managed to short something out on the underside of the power board.
Actually found and bought the service manual (who knew it was even available?!) which brought me to the High Voltage Startup Circuit controller chip.
Looking up that chip number- LD7575APS brought me to the attached datasheet. I have marked my voltage readings on the schematic sheet (open in new... -
by tbsmithThere is voltage on the bridge rectifier and main caps (163V). Fuses all check good. One of the smaller electrolytic caps (C9112 which is 50V, 100uF) looked bloated, it measured 60uF with one tester, and defective with another. I replaced it temporarily with same uF rating, higher voltage since I don't have the exact one. I also found that one of the switching mosfets (for lower voltage DC supply I think) was shorted. It is a 50R800CE which I didn't have, but had something with the same voltage and current rating and a similar Rds. None of these fixes helped. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions...1 Photo
