Some sets have strong clips in the plastic that hold the case in addition to the screws....

Make sure ALL SCREWS are removed--especially from around input sockets etc....

      Thanks

There were clips along the bottom that I missed. So far no bad caps but I have only done a visual.

Does anyone know what the voltage for the LED panel should be? There is writing on the board saying VLED 111v 800ma DC but when I measured the voltage going to the panel it was only 79 volts. anyone know what it should be.

Pictures of the LED driver board, other boards and the backside of the TV? Hard to troubleshoot without pictures.

There should be filter caps after the boosted voltage converter circuit for driving LED strings that you can measure the DC voltage at.
The LEDs are connected to the current sink MOSFETs which is PWM controlled, your meter will not show correct DC Voltage.
What is the TV not doing?

The problem with the TV is the power light comes on but nothing else. See attached photo's These are the only 2 boards.

OK, there are two filter brown filter caps next to the LED connector. Can you read the Voltage rating on the caps? You should test the Voltage right at the two legs of the caps when the power switch is activated.
So you do not even see the backlights come on at all for seconds?
BTW, as you can see here, the board shows 255V for the Voltage for the LEDs, but the filter caps is only 200VDC rating, so do not trust what is printed on the board since same board may be stuffed with different parts for other models.
Sine the LEDS are PWM the voltage readings will not show anything closed to 200V.

Can we see good bright and clear pictures of the bottom side of the power supply board?

                  Sorry for the delay.
Voltage rating on the caps is 160 volts. The voltage on the caps is 78.7v and 78.9v.
The backlights do not come on at all. Here are 2 pics.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                    by PantherDave
                    Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                    Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Toshiba Satellite C50-A won't power down

                    Hi guys,

So, I've been racking my brains on this one.

                    I have a Satellite C50-A which I'm repairing for a friend.

I recently replaced the main board due to failure.

Following this, absolutely everything works perfectly, except for the fact it won't power down.

Initially, shutting down via Windows would shut the OS down, screen would turn off (noticed the lighter black go to what looks like the darker black powered off screen as though the backlights have powered off), however the laptop was still running internally with a spinning...
