Hey friends!
I have been sitting on this tank for awhile and since I never have worked on a Philips I took it in.
The panel was a victim of toasted IC's on the inverter boards (LG) I found a set of new compatible ones for the same price as the kit so I took a chance on them.
They use the NEO magnet mounts as they do not fit the original mounting locations.
When I powered on the Panel the backlights came on and the screen illuminated and when I hit the menu button the panel looked good but when light sensor (was turned on) brightened the screen the CCFL's or CCFL started to flicker/Strobe.
It wasn't terrible but after turning off the Light Sensor it helped a little but there was still noticeable. After turning off all the other picture boot options like DNR/MPEG Color Boost and Perfect Pixel HD, no changes. It wasn't till I got to Dynamic Contrast is were I saw the flicker go away when I got to the DC option it was set to Maximum I turned it off and the flicker was no more. It would flicker in Medium and Minimum too.
The basic level contrast on the panel was set to 100 with no flicker and DC OFF. When I start adjusting the basic contrast lower then 95 it starts to lightly flicker again.
Is this a Bad CCFL or is there some sort of voltage problem with the new Inverter boards?
I have photo of the insides but I left my Lighting cable at home for the iPhone...
I don't even know if its worth dealing with as I have kinda hit a stone wall on reselling, I have 9 panels all up for sale and not one bite...
