In short (lol) if the power lead at SC2 is disconnected and you measure across the 2 pins at SC2 and they are low ohms or short it's SC.

Why single out the upper and not upper and lower? What's it being based on?

Always check buffers for shorts before installing new SC, quick guide is use continuity and bell out between the gnd pads on the SD/Su and the output pins at the ribbons.

    Have fun.

Followed Slide 72 on shorts of SD & SU, with both SC41 & SC42 disconnected, getting shorts indicating that it's just the SC Board, correct?

TW - Laying in bed wondering if the buffer's were actually isolated when I checked shorts on them per slide 72 (last post)?

Just pop the buffers out and re-check for a short on the SC at the main two-pin plug, SC2....
--Usually the buffers wouldnt give a short thats testable via the main supply SC2 connector, although its possible a faulty buffer could kill something on the SC that then gives you a low ohms reading on SC2.

These later Panasonics can be a bit tricky to repair when the SC has issues....

Did you repair original board or replace it complete?

I replaced it complete, going to take original to a repair associate in Spokane tomorrow. Do you want me to have something checked on it?
Found a new one that had been misdiagnosed on fleabay, for $70 in FL. He agreed to expedite shipping Priority Mail for an additional $15. Shipped Thursday, got it today USPS. Pretty good from almost as far as you can get in US, upper panhandle of Idaho, I'm 60 miles from the Canadian border.
