OK i am wondering if someone could tell me if the t-con or the mainboard actually tells the tv what size the panel is to display the proper viewing picture. i know you should replace with exact parts but i am wondering for experimental purposes. i know that the mainboard will have all the data for the tv's setting menus etc. and flash screen etc. but does it also tell the panel what size tv it is or does the t-con do that? i have already swapped a sceptre panel and t-con with ccfl into a rca led tv with a broken screen and everything worked perfect but they were both 32" tv's. Hopefully someone can give me the answer i need as to what board sends out the screen size data to the panel. please don't experiment like i did thinking all boards are interchangeable and this will work for you because it won't. thanks in advance. i am guessing the t-con sends that data but thats why i am asking hoping someone with more knowledge will shed some light on the subject for me.

Re: Question about t-con and mainboard?
If they use the same T-con or a compatible variant then it will be fine. The T-con doesn't have anything to do with screen size. I have used T-cons from 37" panels for a 55" as long as its a compatible part.

Re: Question about t-con and mainboard?
The EEPROM chip on the Mainboard is what contains the information on the screen size plus other information. A T.RSC8.10B 12305 board for example is used on many TV'S. The number on the back of the board makes the board model specific. The difference being the EEPROM chip. The chip location on a Sceptre board is usually U16. Shopjimmy.com has replacement EEPROM Chips. You definitely need de-soldering and soldering experience to replace these chips. They're very small and the board could be damaged if not done properlyComment

by x_orange90_xJust bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

by mmartellMy goal here is to be able to use boards on hand to swap into faulty sets when the faulty board is not obvious.
I will start by asking what is the format of the output from the mainboard and is it generic in any way or does it vary by manufacturer and/or model ?
And as far as I know a tcon and panel must be a matching pair because the timing of the signals and the voltages required to drive the panel are specific to the panel itself. (That may be a blanket statement that isn't true in some cases where the panel creates its own sub-voltages on its panel boards?)...01-06-2024, 01:32 PM -
by advantThis thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.
I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match... -
by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...
