    Panasonic tc-37lz85 sound, no picture

Bought in 2008 (xmas) suddenly lost picture, including menus, etc. Sound still works. Found blown fuse on t-con board. Jumpered with 3A auto fuse, now works fine. I have 2 questions:

    1. How common is it for a fuse to just "go bad"? Can I expect the problem to recur? Ran it for 6 hours and the new fuse didn't blow (I expected it to blow immediately when I turned on the set.) I used a 3A fuse because it was the closest plug type fuse to 2.3A. I can't read the tiny writing on the old fuse, but I tried to measure it and the only thing I can find which seems to match in size and appearance is a ROHM ICP-S2.3TN.

    2. This part is really, really tiny. Is it really necessary to replace the original part or can I just button it up and use it with the jumpered auto fuse? Not too confident about removing tiny SMD device without doing more harm than good.

Rhetorical question: What is the point of this fuse? Panasonic considers the t-con part of the panel and not replaceable or serviceable. Then how does a blown fuse differ from a damaged board? What is this fuse protecting?

"How common is it for a fuse to just "go bad"?" Quite often. No need to remove the old fuse, you can solder the new fuse on top of the old one or use axial-lead fuse type such as PICO fuse. Picture of the T-CON and the model of the LCD Panel?
Is this the T-CON board you have?

I had the TH-32LZ80 with an identical fault. Same model as yours, but 32". Same fuse bad.

Yes, That's the board. Fuse is the first little black SMD just to the right of the LVDS connector.

The one I fixed has worked fine for the past year in a friend's room. no problem so far, just needed that fuse replaced.

According to the picture, the fuse is rated 1.6A, so you can use 2A in its place.

I used 1.5A slow blow without issue, 2A should be fine too.

Re: Panasonic tc-37lz85 sound, no picture

Sorry for not replying. Went to visit our daughter in MN.

Yes, the board is labeled 24V 1.6A. The closest matching part I could find was 2.3A, so I assumed the normal current is 1.6 and the fuse is intended to be slightly larger.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. Without this site it would have taken me much longer to find the problem.

                  Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                  - sound and backlight, but no picture
                  - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                  - it keeps rebooting
                  - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                  - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

                  Hi everyone,

I've got this Panasonic TV here with the following symptoms:

                  * Standby Light is solid RED
                  * Turning on using the Button on the TV (long press) would change LED to blinking GREEN
                  * After a couple of seconds, LED is solid GREEN and without picture or sound.

I've tried a couple of things before tearing it apart:

                  * Resetting using various combinations of powerbutton and volume buttons pressing down while booting.
                  * Activating Self Check according to service manual using IR Blaster (we have no remote unfortunately)...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                  by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                  by Ierwin
                  Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

Samsung UN70NU6900F no picture and no sound

                  Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

                  Symptom:
                  No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
                  No sound at all.

                  What I tried:
                  1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...
