    General plasma parts/repair question

I've been getting a number of cracked screen sets lately with an unknown history. So, I can't see any display related defects if they are related to any boards on the set, as opposed to the panel itself, connections, heat, etc.

What I'm wondering is how often do TCON, YSUS, ZSUS, and even mainboards that power and function OK on a broken panel set ... prove to be defective even if the set is passing self-test?

Surprisingly, my limited experience so far in fixing sets, and buying/selling parts seems to indicate that the buffers are usually the only parts to be "avoided" with broken or dark panel plasma sets that are otherwise working. Even my old Panasonic that I fixed with the help of this forum turned out to be a buffer related problem stemming from a screen defect.

I'm also wondering how the same question applies with LCD's that have defective/cracked panels that are showing light/color when powered on (but no discernible picture in many cases).

I know there is no exact answer on this for every set, but since 98% of the parts goons on Ebay sell used parts from "cracked panel" sets ... I'm curious as to how this plays out in actual repair. Thanks.

I believe it varies based on make/model whether a cracked screen kills buffers and such. Would be nice if there were a compiled list

You really need a scope to test if the boards are working. Using it, you can see if the drive waveforms are present which is a good sign that the board is working fine.
Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
        by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...

Samsung UN65JU67ODFXZA Version TD01 Schematic and Parts List
        by Mark D
The TV is a Samsung UN65JU67ODFXZA Version TD01. I replaced the power source board and the TV is now working, but I decided to try and troubleshoot the old board to fix at the component level. Trying to get a schematic and a parts list has proven to be an issue. Trying on my own, I can't tell you how many times my Norton security has flagged sites as "malicious". I ordered a service manual from ServiceManuals.net, paid $16.99 and got 66 pages of everything BUT schematics and component parts list! Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Some of the surface mounted component parts...

Giving away parts from otherwise cracked monitors/TVs: Does anyone know a group/forum
        by spartantravis
        Hi Guys
I was just taking apart an old Medion 24inch monitor that had a cracked screen. I needed the PMMA sheet inside but I am left with the working electronics, bezels and frame. It seems a waste to just throw it out considering the extortionate prices that some vendors charge for replacement parts.
At the same time, I dislike the commerical aspects of selling stuff.
Does anyone know of any group where people who repair monitors/TVs trade/donate parts to each other?
The monitor is an MD 20830 23.8inch. The owner left it face down while moving stuff and somehow cracked...

        SVOD4 PCB pictures + parts
        by 2elw
Hey, I find it very absurd that the SVOD4 costs so much and has zero documentation. I had no other choice than to buy it to unlock ECs, if there was any documentation or firmware avalible I could've made it or something simmilar. Anyways here are some of the most important parts:

STM32H723VGT6 MCU - It's a microcontroller by STMicroelectronics and its the whole brain of the SVOD4. It has flash memory for the firmware which can be updated by the SVOD4 program. Its also powered by the AMS117 which converts 5v into 3.3V. 7€ on AliExpress.

        GW1N-UV9UG169C6/I5 FPGA - Its a...

        LG 60pn6506 Plasma
        by An-klamm
        Hello!

Have received a LG 60pn6506 60 inch from a work colleague.
RJP30H2A on the X-Board were shorted.
60R5_YSUS, EAX64789501 and EBR75455701 is written on the board.
New board for about 130$ is too much for him. So if that's the only option, that's going on the scrap (after the PSU and Y board are sold).
I checked the area around the RJP Mosfets and found that the diodes on the gate pin are also defective (for Example D564). Imprint is: UF and then 90° offset CD. In Diodetestmodes the good ones show ~0,2V

A little further to the right on the...
