    SVOD4 PCB pictures + parts

Hey, I find it very absurd that the SVOD4 costs so much and has zero documentation. I had no other choice than to buy it to unlock ECs, if there was any documentation or firmware avalible I could've made it or something simmilar. Anyways here are some of the most important parts:

STM32H723VGT6 MCU - It's a microcontroller by STMicroelectronics and its the whole brain of the SVOD4. It has flash memory for the firmware which can be updated by the SVOD4 program. Its also powered by the AMS117 which converts 5v into 3.3V. 7€ on AliExpress.

GW1N-UV9UG169C6/I5 FPGA - Its a FPGA. It also has non-volatile memory which means that the STM32 MCU tells it what to do and it does it. So no dumping needed here. 25€ on AliExpress

SMSC USB3300-EZK USB host - Its what lets your pc communicate with the STM32. It isnt programmable and doesnt have any flash memory so thats great. 3€ for 5pcs on AliExpress

74HC595D shift register - It has something to do with shifting signals, which i dont really understand. But its a very basic chip. There are a ton of them on the SVOD4. 1€ for 10pcs on AliExpress

In principle these are the most important parts needed to make a SVOD4. Its definitley not worth the 500€ I had to pay to a reseller just to get my hands onto one. I understand that it might be expensive because all of the research and time it took to make this product but I find locking down the software and all modifications really not okay. Not even the slightest bit of documentation. I think making a clone might be highly possible because 1: It has OTA update which means the firmware of the STM is literally on your pc and 2: There's always a chance to dump the firmware from the chip directly, also ive noticed a 10 pin debugging connector on the side which might help.

Pictures of the pcbs and close ups are in the attachments

The problem is extracting firmware from the STM32H723VGT6 MCU. If someone can dump that, it would maybe be possible, but it's difficult when the firmware is protected.

The SVOD4 software downloads a binary of the firmware and flashes it when clicking on 'update' or whatever it was, I tried wireshark but Windows has too much network activity for me to sift through
Id suggest installing the software in a vm and trying the update thingy

MD71-HB0 Firmware bricked of X557-AT2 NICs
        by Bruggefan
        Hi all

I'm having troubles with an Gigabyte MD71-HB0 rev 1.1.
I've read on different forums that many people had issues just like I had, but for some reason, mine got worse.
        What happened:

        - Did BMC firmware update in 2020
        - Doing this, my MAC adresses were cleared from my nics
        - Added MAC adresses with an eeupdate tool

Things worked fine for years, however about a year ago I performed a BMC and BIOS upgrade again.
Since then, both my 10Gbit and my 1Gbit NICs stopped working.
The amber led on the NICs is solid on, no matter...

Anker SoundCore 2 Bluetooth Speaker Turns Off After a Few Seconds (Possibly Firmware Issue?)
        by zklgfs
        Hi,

I have an Anker SoundCore 2 (A3105) that I saved from the trash (well, I guess there's a reason why it was supposed to go into the trash...). The problem is that it always turns off after a few seconds (sometimes it stays on a bit longer, between 30 and 60 seconds, but it still turns off). The power light turns on and the bluetooth light starts blinking, but both abruptly turn off again. The "turn off sound" is still played after the lights turn off. Sometimes, it also loops the on-off cycle several times without me pressing any buttons. If I connect an AUX cable, music...

        Thinkpad Docker G2 Type-C 40AS - Firmware Unknown
        by TheUser
        Hello to everyone ,

This is my first post here, and i would like to share with you a small story in case you can help me.

Docker Type-C Gen 2 - Model 40AS. Was given to me by a friend for free ,but with the problem that you cannot use the video output ports.

All ports work , USB , Ethernet, Type C ... but HDMI + Display Port don't work

I searched on reddit and google for problem similar to that, and a LOT of people had fixed this problem by updating the firmware. So i tried , i searched and found 1.1.13 utility and 1.1.20 utility that can help...

        Ubiquiti firmware help. US-8-150W POE
        by gurj1979
        Hi guys.

I've got a Ubiquiti US-8-150W POE switch which has issues with updating the firmware.
Turned out to be a bad EEPROM chip. It would read the firmware and work as normal, but failed to write new firmware to it.

So I took off the chip and read on EEPROM and saved it. Wrote to old chip and failed to write
Got New chip and writes good.

        THE PROBLEM...
It fails to fully load the firmware, POE lights fail to work during g firmware test during load. I'm suspecting bad EEPROM Read.

Does anyone have a Good Firmware I can have?...

Extracting firmware from USB-C Controller CYPD5225-96BZXI
        by yogibaaeer
I had to replace a broken USB-C Controller CYPD5225-96BZXI in my HP 835 G7 laptop with a new one. Unfortunately the new one came unprogrammed - so no device connectivity or pd functionality is given. Reflashing HP BIOS did not work, the USB-C Controller firmware was ommitted everytime with "newest version already installed".
Following some guide from youtube that dealt with a similar problem with the same chip, but other laptop model, I flashed sample fireware Cypress delivers with its Host SDK and hoped to have the opportunity to overwrite the sample firmware with the HP firmware....
