Hello all,
I picked up this 50 inch plasma set for about $40. It's doing about the same thing as several other threads have described with a couple of weird twists!
First off when I apply power, I get the click right off. Front panel light goes from REd to Blue. I'm not hitting power or touching the remote! Yeah it's possessed ! No picture but I did manage to flip through all inputs until I heard the sound working on the composite input I am using.
I checked all voltages on the power supply and found all to be within range, at least so i thought!
I then tried pulling the upper buffer board which gave me the following behavior:
At this point I suspected something in the power supply or Y-SUS board.
Power supply is the EAY41360901, same as model 50PG20.
I pulled the power supply and determined Q801 & Q802 (18N50 mosfets) were shorted and Fuse F801 (T5AH250V) was open. I decided to try the minimalist approach and replace only the above. (maybe a bad guess).
After replacing the above, I get the same exact behavior. So I am still leaning towards a bad power supply based on all the comments in other threads about this. I did not replace IC 101 which may be the major source of this weird un-powered boot-up action.
Also, I am not getting any indication from the RED led (on the main board or control board) which also kind of points to the AC Detect issue. However, I have checked the AC DETECT line and it seems to be near 5V most of the time. It's not rock solid and does jump around a bit. Another reason I think the IC may be bad.
My next step I am trying is to get the Shopjimmy kit to repair the PS which include the 3 ICs, and Q801, Q802, Q601, Q602 and some Caps.
I guess it still could be the Y-SUS but I'm taking it one step at a time.

- Lower half of screen has gray backlighting, no picture
- After 3 minutes I get vertical line noise of yellow & orange lines (see picture)
- About 10 - 15 seconds after the lines come, the power cuts out competley
- The whole thing repeats when I power it back up
At this point I suspected something in the power supply or Y-SUS board.
