Anyone dare to try to identify this part?

Power supply in my blu-ray player has an IC that litterally got blown open (supposedly from last lightning storm)

Model is a Sony BDP-S185.

Powersupply board has the model # SRV2252UC

I've got the service manual and I still cant wrap my head around it, but there is no schematic on the powersupply board what-so-ever. I've even talked with someone at sony and they left me on hold off and on for some time and finally told me that the part is not replaceable that you have to buy the power supply and they wanted +$100 for it.

There are about 2 pictures ive found online of it, but not good enough to read the chip.

I've found the board online for around $40. it's an old blu ray player... Regardless, I hate seeing the one obviously bad chip and thinking it's a few dollars...

May be one of VIPER22 series, need to trace out the bottom side of the board to see how all the pins are connected.

Yessir that is the one!

I am all up for tracing out some pins, my on-going repair with my TV that you helped me with taught me alot, I feel like with this I could learn alot more. Im going to go ahead and post a picture of the trace side of the board.

Here's the back. Looks like pins 6,7,8 all are on a common solder trace.

So far I cannot find any IC in my library that matches the pin out of your IC yet.
Base on the connection on the bottom side:
pin 1 is Ground (Source)
pin 2 is the VCC which gets the voltage from Diode D107 and the startup cap C110.
pin 3 is the FB from the opto for regulation
pin 4 ?? there is a resistor R105 (SMD) to ground
pin 5 ?? there is a resistor R107 SMD to the B+
PIN 6, 7, 8 are Drain

D106, R106 (SMD), C117 (SMD) are the RCD snubber network, the small blue disk cap C10? connected between S (pin 1) and D (pin 6~8) is the snubber cap.

If you look at many circuits and boards, you will get some idea how they are connected, over 40 years of experience help.
Good clear pictures also help.

Well in another direction, it appears that the board simply applies 12v regulated voltage to the main board. (I am assuming it is 12v DC?)

Would it be in my best interest to connect the player to my 12v powersupply to test if the player itself is still fine ?

I have a modifed computer power supply that is wired to feed 12v DC powering a car stereo amp for my home subwoofer. I could connect jumpers to it into the blu ray player, connect it to a tv and test it.

Yes, you can use another regulated 12V power supply may be around 2A or more to try it out.

The "opto" you are refering to on pin 3, why do you call that an opto? I know of them as a photo relay, same thing?

Opto-Isolator (pc101), that little 4-pin device. it has LED (A/K) on the transmitting end, and phototransistor on the receiving end (C/E).

So just an update on this, I got a chance to wire up the blu ray player to my 12v power supply and all boots up and appears to be fine. It's still finicky trying to connect to my home network but it was like that before.

Now the next step, anyone still think they may be able to figure out what my IC part number is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The power supply module is made by the third party (MITSUMI) so it does not have the diagram in the service manual.

FSDL0165 seems to match the pinout I traced out, good find KASFAMILY.
