hdpartsolutions.com aka TV repair vs. new TV with feature loss

If anyone has experience with ebay seller hdpartsolutions with apparent placeholder web site hdiservicesolutions.com I'd love to hear about it, or about alternative sources for repair of Vizio TV component boards.

When the #3 HDMI port died on my Vizio, I again searched the web in vain for a suitably similar new replacement (PIP/POP with an abundance of both analog [especially] and HDMI inputs, with no need for digging into menus to switch among the varied source types). Finding none, as I had several times previously in the years since buying this one, I next searched the web for history of similar trouble, but found none. I determined the port was physically located on the main board, and looked to vizio.com for a solution. It pointed me to two web sites, of which only vizparts.com claimed to have one, only in the form of a refurb. I bought one. It solved the original problem, but introduced a new one. Vizparts quickly sent another, but it featured the same shortcoming.

Next I contacted Vizio tech support by phone to inquire whether there could possibly be a software solution for the new problem, but was guaranteed there was and would be no such solution. "Compatible" boards' part numbers were being changed as production proceeded, and software was always specific to the particular version was support's explanation.

After reporting the second failure to vizparts, it responded by saying no possibility for it to supply a replacement that behaved differently. I inquired about the possibility of having my original board repaired, upon which it recommended calling hdpartsolutions.com by phone. When I did that I was asked to send model number and serial number by email for a repair quote. The email response I got back scared me, as it requested prepayment via Paypal, and withheld shipping instructions pending receipt of payment.

My response so far has been doing some investigation. After discovering hdpartsolutions.com redirects to http://www.hdiservicesolutions.com/, I found TV parts seller hdpartsolutions on ebay who has been on ebay for 11 years, and with a not unreasonable feedback rating considering the nature of his business. Also, it appears highly likely that hdpartsolutions and vizparts.com are closely related at least physically, as their street addresses are identical except for numbers, 710 and 738.

Everything in that part of the board is so tiny there's no way my old eyes could tell if it could be as simple as a broken solder connection. Contact cleaner and blowing the area clean produced no functional change.

So, before I commit to giving away what may be the only opportunity to keep an important TV function, anyone have any comment? Anyone here think he or someone he trusts could resurrect my HDMI port?

Mrmazda if you don’t get any replies post down in the TV section and list the TV model number and the bad board number?
