There's a Samsung model PN51E530A3F with a cracked screen for sale not too far away from me. Would the main board work with a PN43e450?

No, it is not.
That is a 1080p TV, yours is 720p.
If you wanted to do a 51" 720p -> 43" 720p, that also would not work unfortunately, because the panels are different resolution (1024x768 on 43", 1365x768 on 51")
