Kinda have a general question on -exact part #s- vs -if it fits, it works-...
This came to a head with an LCD TV that has a decent picture for a few seconds than "fades" to a complete white out...
I was thinking it was either the video board or the TCON board.. I had a couple similar video boards I tried. Didn't fix the white out issue..
So, now I am looking at replacing the TCON board, hence my dilemma..
The exact part number board (T420XW01 V5) runs about $60-$80...
A search of the part number minus the version number shows me parts that look nearly identical, has the same type/size/position connectors, but are as low as $20...
Obviously, saving a few bucks is a good thing. But wasting a few bucks on a part that fits but doesn't work (I have had that happen on more than one occasion, repairing Tablet Digitizers) or worse, actually damages the TV
is (also obviously) not desirable..
So, how picky are TVs when it comes to replacement/compatible parts??
Thanx...
