Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Ok, I removed the upper left board and tried it again. I have the same symptoms. There is no picture at all. The TV clicks when you turn it on, the red light comes on, but when you press any of the other buttons, such as channel up, the set clicks off.

With a small amount of force, they (the tan/orange ribbon) will slide out. There's a little bit of retention you will have to get over.Leave a comment:

Ok, so I flipped the black latches, now what do I do? Do the tan pieces pop or slide off the board? Do the ribbons slide out of the tan pieces? I have never done this before, so I am trying to not to take any chances.Leave a comment:

You need to lift up the little latch next to each of them carefully, be careful not to damage the ribbons as they cannot be replaced.Leave a comment:

What is the proper way to disconnect the ribbons? They do not seem to want to move.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Agreed. I sure hope it's not the dreaded ribbon cable crack! Everyone who has the pa5500 or pa6500 should file down that plastic tab just to make sure it doesn't happen to them. I've now seen four other sets here with the same issue. Sadly I have not been able to retain a ribbon cable yet to try to repair this. If possible of course. The outcome most likely will not be desirable.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Having dealt with one of these myself...
Disconnect the top Y-buffer board. It's the board in the top left of the panel with the orange ribbons coming out of it. You will need to undo the ribbons and unscrew the board, then slide the board out from the connectors.
Turn the TV on, if you get half a picture, the plasma panel is bad and this is an unrepairable fault.
There is a serious design flaw with these panels where the casing eats into the ribbons going to the panel causing short circuits. Unfortunately the ribbons aren't replaceable, they are glued to the panel.

LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
I was given a LG 50PA5500 50" Plasma that I am trying to bring back to life.
I was told that the picture went out first, then at some point later the sound went out too. I took off the back panel, but did not notice any obvious damage. This is my first television repair, so I don't know where to go from here.
The TV does click once when you press the power button, and the red light does come on, but there is still no sound or picture.
Here are pics:

by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.

by divingfeSorry if this is too repetitive, or in the wrong place.
I'm new, and having much the same problem. My LG50PA5500 TV has been working flawlessly since new. The other day, while in the midst of watching a broadcast DTV channel, the entire screen suddenly and silently went dark (no snaps, crackles or pops); sound, channel selection and inputs all work OK.
I have checked connections and voltages from: stdby, pwr supply board fuses, psb output voltages to Zsus board and its fuse, output voltages from Zsus to Ysus and its fuse. All precisely normal!! I've also checked voltages to the...06-19-2021, 06:36 PM -

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... - Loading...
