Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Dont worry , i was also new ( still are ) and thanks to these guys i learned alot!
I think the tv is in standby mode and when you try to turn it on it detects a problem and it shuts off
Its the same problem why it shut off in the first place.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Thanks for being patient with me. Obviously, I'm clueless when it comes to this sort of problem.
If the red light in front left hand corner of the TV is on, does that mean the TV is on? At first I thought it did. This TV has never worked since it was given to me, so I don't know for sure and I don't want to give the wrong information.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Not necessarily... I've had an LCD like that. Standard story, "customer says" TV lost picture then a day later lost sound. Picture was inverter fault... sound was them muting it accidentally when the picture was out.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Don't know yet. The power supply may not be getting the turn on signal from the main board. That's why we have to go thru a series of tests to determine what's going on.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Isnt this just a PS problem? I mean , first the screen goes black and later on the sound is gone. Is it not the PS losing its voltage to the other boards? Just trying to think with you guys...

You shouldn't test fuses with power on, always unplug and wait for set to discharge.
I meant voltage tests are to be made with power on.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
With the TV on, the fuse shows 008. Does that mean this is my problem?Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Ok, now try with the Z-sustain out... by the way, are you turning the TV on (taking it out of standby)?Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Check the fuse above the two yellow transformers on the power supply with an ohm meter. If it's open that's your problemLeave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
With the Y-sustain board disconnected and the TV off, Vs 002 Va 008.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
Ok, now remove the connection between the power board and Y-sustain board; the Y-sustain is the large left hand board.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
With the TV off, Vs reads 014 and Va reads 008. When the TV is on, it reads nothing. I had it set to 1000v.Leave a comment:

Re: LG 50PA5500 Plasma - No picture then no sound
OK, using it, test the Vs and Va voltages on the power supply. These are usually available on test points. The multimeter needs to be set to the highest DC range available (usually 600 or 1000V.) For convenience, you can attach the black probe to the chassis. For now, leave the top buffer board out of the set.Leave a comment:

Good. That is what was needed, thanks for that.
Do you have a digital multimeter available?Leave a comment:

I'm not sure which those are. TV is at work. I'll post pics in the morning of exactly what I did.
Thanks for the help so far.Leave a comment:

Just to make sure, you unplugged the Y-buffer from the Y-sustain board?Leave a comment:

by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on... -

I'm new, and having much the same problem. My LG50PA5500 TV has been working flawlessly since new. The other day, while in the midst of watching a broadcast DTV channel, the entire screen suddenly and silently went dark (no snaps, crackles or pops); sound, channel selection and inputs all work OK.
I have checked connections and voltages from: stdby, pwr supply board fuses, psb output voltages to Zsus board and its fuse, output voltages from Zsus to Ysus and its fuse. All precisely normal!! I've also checked voltages to the...06-19-2021, 06:36 PM -
by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... - Loading...
