Presuming no backlight? Checked inverter fuses? Checked 24V for inverters? BLON present?

        Hi

I've had a better look at this TV. See attached photo. Its one of these ambilight jobs. I can't see any obvious inverter in this TV. When its first switched on it shows the Philips logo screen then the screen goes completey black (no backlight). On the power supply I'm getting no voltage from the BL-On at all but 4.9v from BL-Dim. Any ideas ? See attached pic for reference.

        thanks

          Inverter is on the PSU.
So, you should get brief BLON but I think you are saying it is dropping out?

            Hi Tom

No, I was checking the BL-On as I plugged it in and switched it on but nothing. I also checked the 2 black leads going from the top of the power supply directly to the screen and no power at all coming from them. Seems a bit odd as the screen does come on briefly showing the Philips logo for a few seconds. I'm presuming power supply, tricky part to find it seems !

            thanks

If you checked those high voltage leads you've probably damaged your multimeter - about 3.5kV present on those!

                Ouch

It did say high voltage beside them. No power seems to be coming from them and my multimeter still seems to be working.

Well, you were lucky that the BL_ON was not present so the high voltage circuit did not get turn on to damage your meter. You can cut the Bl_on signal wire that goes back to the main board and then use 1K resistor between the BL_ON pin and the Standby power supply pin on the power supply-inverter board to force on the backlights to test (you must have all the connectors back in place).
It seems to me that you have main board problem.

To save cutting the wire, its nearly always possible to carefully winkle the barb that holds that wire/connector in the plastic of the plug and remove it from the plug without damage.

Just push back into the plug when you're done....
