Any electronics school or college that you can try to see if they have the lab for the students that you can ask and see if they can do it for you?

I just use a regular 60w soldering iron from Home Depot to solder on the new chip. The hardest part is getting the chip off. I use the exacto knife, or a
Regular heat gun from walmart to heat it off. But once you get it off all you have to do is put some flux on the traces, align the new chip and solder the corner legs, put some solder on the tip and drag it across the legs. I then just zoom in with my iPhone and take some photos to see if there's any bridging.

yea i guess i just need to practice on some similar chips on some dead motherboards or something... ill get this eventually. thanks

60w seems liek a lot though. i have heard u dont want to use more than 25 on these things or u might burn up the chip?

update: well i ended up finding the TCON in another tv i picked up of the same model that had a bad motherboard. installing the working TCON fixed the problem. so i ordered another TCON and a Motherboard to get the other one working as well. i have since sold the TV for 150$ ...so finally starting to make some money...hopefully i can buy some new tools soon!
