I think it's probably worth it, given free, but it's not going to blow you away picture quality wise.

If I had more room to horde these monster plasma panels I probably would. I just gave away a Hitachi 55" Ultravision 55HDT51 and that Sammy 5084 I fixed for cheap just to get them out of my hobby cave lol.

I got a LG LG 60PV400 that I swapped out for the 51" Sammy 5350, I found someone's professional 20 point IRE calibrations for the PV400 and put them in, I got to admit for a bottom end Plasma it looks pretty nice all dialed in.

Defiantly looking forward your fix on this Pioneer!

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 7 blinks intermittent

It would be nice if this panel is pre-calibrated. If not I will have to use some references. Kuros are pretty good out of the box on "Movie" apparently, which isn't that surprising.

I normally wouldn't calibrate a TV, but it's worth doing it for such a high end TV. I usually go by eye on the contrast/brightness/colour/sharpness, but I'm almost certainly wrong.

I hear you on that, the calibration numbers I found the user liked the warm side of picture color and qualities. I just adjusted them more for a neutral as I am not a warm temp viewer.

The Disney WOW disc is pretty nice tool if you don't have it.

Me too. Warm is the accurate setting but I personally prefer neutral to cool tones. Ultimately it's more of a preference thing to me. (Don't say that on AVSForum, you'll probably be lynched. Especially if you set a Kuro to torch mode, although you probably deserve it if you do.)

Lucky you, what did the fault end up as? Ive been searching for one of these in my price range without any success for some time now
edit just looked again and found one for 250 mostly working has purple haze on top 3" of screen, do you think the buffers are failing? and are they available?

It's intermittent, so I have to fix it still. It just powered up from cold.

Purple haze is actually a common fault - look up "Kuro red tint".

This TV has it very faintly, it is fixable, it requires an RS232 terminal. I will do it after the repair. You have to fire some commands at it, to reset some type of internal counter.

The buffers are NON-REPLACEABLE. They are bonded to the panel via soldered ribbon . But you could conceivably replace an IC on the buffer board. I think with some hot air, you might just be able to remove the buffer ribbon - there is only one and it's a long one. But I wouldn't want to try it.

On the add it says it is intermittent, only on the top 3" and shows itself on white backgrounds. I did find the ics availible I thought it sounded like an open in one of the ics. the more common red tint appears to be on black and affect the whole screen.

Hmm, sounds potentially risky to me, unless it was very cheap I wouldn't take the risk.
The IO board and main logic board are worth about $150 total, the sustains and PSU are worth very little, as they rarely go bad.

Freeze spraying regulator brought it back to life, this is looking like a nice one. Just need to find NJM2846 in the UK.

Aside from the clipped ground lead, it looks like BA18BC0WFP will fit (the tab is still grounded, which is probably the only important thing.) It's available from Farnell.

Pioneer Kuro Pro 111FD 8 blink red LED.

I have been trying to solve the power-down 8-blink red LED problem with my Pioneer.

So far I have replaced the power supply board, and the digital assembly board, I have reconnected the ribbons to all boards, ensuring the connections are good. Even though the problem is the 8 red light error and not the more common 8 blue light error code, I had Kcrownie,

Panasonic P58V11B 8 and 12 blinks error "fix"

Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

I would like to get some help on a 820-2850 logic board with intermittent charging problem. Sometimes the battery will charge all the way and sometimes magsafe would be cycling between green and orange.

I have already tried replacing dc-in board, swapping good battery, swapping genuine 85w chargers. None of that helps..

                                            when it is not intermittent:
                                            PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_R is 12.07v

                                            when it is intermittent:
When the light is green, PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_R is 12.99v
when the light is orange, PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_R is 11.62v

                                            data line on the battery...

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Pioneer PL-X9 motor speed control wobble
                                            by Bushcat
I'm starting to re-cap a Pioneer PL-X9 turntable, specifically the motor control board, because although everything tests out OK according to the service manual, the speed wavers slightly despite the quartz lock light remaining on. So, I've decided to re-cap that board since it's the cheapest next step...

Pioneer's passive component naming convention is clear to me. For example, CSZA R22M 35 is tantalum, radial leads, 0.22uF, 20%, 35V.

BUT there are two capacitors on the board which have actual Pioneer part numbers: PCL-042. I can tell they are 0.1uF, 16V but don't...
