Re: Panasonic Viera TH-P42S10A SOS 5 Blinks

    Thanks tw!
I've had a few other things to do lately so this got put aside but will get into again soon.

IC773 and 771 look suspect, Q701 702 i'm also suss on and will confirm out of circuit later this time.
I reckon it's one of those little buggers i missed last time around - even though i was looking at them on a list in red after seeing your 5081 experiences.

In any case that sounds like a very similar problem, closer than others. I'll have a good read and get back into later tonight hopefully. I appreciate the info very much!

I was able to repair a Panasonic TC-P42G15 Plasma with the same symptoms listed by the OP (buzz/hum followed by relay click at power on, 5 Blink SOS code, no signal, short across SC2) using a Panasonic Repair Kit.

        Repair Kit:
        PART: TNPA4844
        MFR: PANASONIC
        INV: Y-SUS REPAIR KIT

        Repair Kit contents (15 components)
        -3 x 2PG011 / RJP56F4A (Q402, Q403, Q404 - IGBT TO-220F)
        -3 x RJP4585 (Q422, Q423 Q424 - MOSFET TO-220F)
        -6 x 7.5ohm 1/3W (R402, R403, R404, R422, R423, R424 - Resistor SMD)
        -1 x RJK6026 (Q660 - MOSFET TO-220F)
        -1 x RJP6065 (Q661 - MOSFET TO-220F)
        -1 x RF101L4S (D865 - Diode SMD)

All components were replaced except the resistors which measured fine on the SC board. The diode was shorted. I did not evaluate all of the TO-220s as some were definitely bad and I decided to replace them all. TV works as new after the repair.

The following reference was helpful during the repair:
        Panasonic TCG46P15 Service Manual

Hope this helps someone else trying to revive an old plasma TV.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
          by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

          After all of...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
          by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...

          Panasonic Viera Plasma TH-42PX75U 7 Blinks/8 Blinks/burned P board?
          by mmischni
          Greetings friends,

I have a Panasonic TH-42PX75U manufactured in 2007. It has been trouble-free until recently. One evening I turned it on and it then powered back off and gave 7 blinks.

First a question about the blinks. Everyone only speaks of a single number of blinks. I noticed on my TV, it blinks one fewer times for the first group of blinks, then blinks the full number repeatedly. So for my first code in question, the TV switches off, blinks 6, then blinks 7 repeatedly. When I disconnected the SC board, the TV switches off, blinks 7, then blinks 8 repeatedly....
