LG 42LC7D ccfl bleed at top of screen.

    Hey all!

I got this panel in a non working state, it was 4 2200uf 10v caps and 1 1500uf 35v cap.

I replaced the 4 2200uf caps with 25V of the same uf and the panel came right on. I didn't change the 1500uf as it was an odd ball uf and I didn't have it. I was going to replace it with a 2200uf 35v but I ran out of those too.

I put in a order and will replace the 1500uf as soon as it comes in.

Anyway the panel came right on after those were replaced, when the tv was on the back lights were only on in a low illumination mode with no input as soon as there is a signal the back lights illuminate brighter.

At the top of the screen as you will see in the photo below there are 5 half rectangle shaped anomalies at the top of the panel. They to me look like backlight bleed but once the panel warms up after about 5-10 min they are 95% gone and all you can see at that point on white/lighter screens are very light shaded in the affected areas the picture looks great and it doesn't seem to be affected to much when these are visible when first turned on..

What causes this to happen? I also see this on a few Vizio LG LCD models.

Is this a bad panel or tab bond issues?

Pretty common on these older LG panels if they've been off for a while. Just let it run for a couple hours normally and it'll go away permanently (until it's off for a week again.)

Not a fault just a "bug" with the design when it gets too cold.

I think it is some kind of distribution issue with the LC crystals in that part of the panel.

Awesome, Thanks Tom. I noticed the LG made Vizio GV47L I have does this too, not nearly as bad but its present at cold boot up and dissipates after a minute or two.

One the ones I've had, it will be there if off for a week or so.
But once in daily usage it never comes back.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
          by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
          by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
          by smic717394
          Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
          by ttmi100x
          Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

          Upon closer inspection...

          Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
          by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...
