    kdl-47ex723 troubleshooting

I bought this tv for $85 from a couple they said it just stopped working. I went home looked it up and come to find out its running about $900 used so not to bad if i getting it working. Its a smart tv 3d....So i plugged it in and nothing no led light no nothing so i went searching for the service manual and found out i need a mainboard which is called a (b) board in this model so i got one which was $120..I hooked it up pluged it in and the tv panel flashed on for 2 sec and went off and now the standby blinking 2 times led lights... The panel isnt flashing on anymore but is blinking 2 times.. I found out thru the schematics it means (pov) power overage voltage protection.... To my knowlege that has to do with the powerboard and by the way im only getting 3.3vdc output no other outputs

I also went to the sony website the mainboard needs a update which i dont believe is causeing it to not turn on cause the update say its for improving the internet surfing but i try updating onto a usb flash drive and plugging it into the tv but still wont turn on.. so any suggestions wont be greatfull

Take some photos of it and upload them and the service manual\schematics here

        I'm working on a 55EX720.
I have replaced the mainboard from another model, which should be compatible, but I'm getting a 5x blink error.
I have tried the software upgrade, but it did not start.
Now at work, I have re-read the how to upgrade and I have realized that I haven't put the folder on the USB stick, just the file in it.
I will have to try it out, with the folder on the USB stick and see what happens.
In my opinion, you also need the upgrade.

guy with 723 you have a blown smd diode on your board. could tell you where but could be different for you. good luck hunting. guy with 720 i think you have a t con issue. update will not fix that but then i have seen stranger things!

I have another T-con from shopjimmy, but didn't fix the issue.
Did not work the software update either.
shopjimmy recommended the exact model number main board.

ya it would be t-con or mainboard. do you get any leds at the front, does it respond to remote, are you getting all the power to the mainboard? worth checking those before you spend money.

                Re: kdl-47ex723 troubleshooting

Sorry, I was out of state.
The standby LED turns on as I plug it in.
If I turn the TV on, the LED turns off.
If I turn it on again, then for a blink of a second, the green LED turns on and then the red blinks 5 times.
I haven't measured the voltages yet, but I will as soon as I can.
The two errors that can be are:
                1- HFR error
                2- P_ID Error= Panel ID NVM error
I think the main board need the new firmware, which would probably replace the panel id. This is just an assumption.
The firmware won't start, I don't know why.
