LG 50PY3D red sparklies and line.

The above set came in dead. Customer said it got harder and harder to turn on, so they left it on all the time. (Never heard that before, have you? )

Anyway, I found and replaced half a dozen 3300uF 10V caps in the SMPS, hit the switch and it fired right up, but no celebrating for me.

There is a picture, but it has a lot of reddish sparklies in the main viewing area of the screen. There are fewer in the top part of the screen, and none within 3 inches of the edges of the screen on all 4 sides. The bottom half of the screen has a very definite pinkish tinge because of the sheer number of them. Also, there is a reddish line across the screen right at the half-way point, but it fades out toward the edge of the screen too.

I think it's important to note that the TV does display a picture, and most kids think it's a fantastic TV because it has a big screen. They don't notice the red. I do, and the customer will.
Part of me says "Z-sustain board is causing the sparklies."
Another part of me says "Nope! Y-sustain, since there's a line!"
"But the line isn't complete all the way across! Z-sustain".

I'm feeling like I'm multiple personality here. Anyone seen anything like this? Any suggestions? And sorry if I didn't search properly. I did punch 50PY3D into the search and got nothing. Going to try a few other search terms.

Update: I checked the Vs and Va voltages. They were pretty much bang right on with what the sticker on the panel said: 190 and 60. I tried lowering the 190V supply by 5V just to see if it made any difference, but the picture didn't change.
I then marked the position of SET-DN and found it made a considerable improvement in the redness with a 1/8 turn. Still some sparkles, and the horizontal line has gone darker, almost like some pixels rarely turn on. Overall the picture is improved, but not great.

Well--we know what the red-dots are and how to cure it--But the line is what concerns me....

Dots are an issue with LG, and can be cured with control-board firmware update, (Special jig required--see Capkid in US) but the line sounds like a different unrelated fault....

Here you go. Strangely, I noticed the word "Closed" formed in the red sparkles, and you can barely make it out in the 3rd photo. There are a couple of other odd shaped that show up on light scenes, but they are even more vague. They are almost impossible to get a good picture of.

It looks like a bad Y-Sus buffer to me.
