    Re: panasonic tx-p42gt30b

sorry tw2005 if what I was saying isn't clear, could I piggy back the resistor over the connection with original still in place, Connection 1 & 2 just add the 5w or 7w 15ohm resistor on top.

Yeah , I guess, don't know why though. I'd stick to 5W otherwise more energy is going to pass through the 7W before it blows. It may be ok but you're dealing with the mains side of the PSU, exceeding the original design may be risky.

I may of confused you sorry, its not the fuse sided that's blown, its not reading the resistance 15ohms

keep in mind clearances, this board looks like it's designed to be low profile.

No I think I confused everything early on, I don't think there is a fuse as such but the whole resistor is the fuse. And it has done it's job because it is now open cct and no longer reading 15ohms.

We'll just think of pins 1 & 3 as the same. (on the resistor)

Ive removed them from the board, to test.

              hope this helps.

makes it clear,I understood your point, I've explained it best I can.

So I could order 5w 15ohms try what I said then, should be able to make it fit. can just swap them around.

I'd pull the bad one out, get a 5W 15ohm ceramic, fit the leads where 2 & 3 are.

                      Isn't 1-3 the fuse & 1 - 2 the resistor ?

Replaced the 5w 15ohm resistor as said, also fuse, plugged in mains.
Heard bang fuse blown, checked the 5w 15ohm resistor open circuit again.

You should consider building a series lightbulb tester to prevent popping fuses and new components. You probably have a shorted FET or bridge on the board somewhere, failing that, a bad controller IC stuck ON would cause this.

Cheers tom66, yea I give it ago in the morrows, think tw2005 was saying the same as a short somewhere. will double check those under the heatsinks.

Hiya after few more checks, does these readings sound right.

These 2 diodes? D204 & D216 both reading OL, near the single transformer.

                              They read T3D 0D

How did you get pins 1 to 4 on one two pin diode?
