Looks like the light tunnel heated up. I've never seen that happen, how long did you have it running before that happened. The only thing I can think of is that the color wheel glass itself must filter the intensity enough so the light tunnel does'nt get that hot?

About 10 minutes maybe ?

The only thing I can see is that the uv filter is part of the color wheel, I guess the uv from the lamp must have caused the heat. on a lot of dlp tvs the uv filter is seperate, mounted between the lamp and the color wheel.

I guess there's no way to repair this type of damage without replacing the whole tunnel. Is there an adjustment that needs done even if I could get that part in place ? And what is it that's moved anyway ?

That metal piece that is in the picture is the light tunnel, it could be ok, it is made up of 4 small pieces of mirror and it looks like it survived, maybe only the plastic around it needs replaceing. on some there is adjustment but its easily done, if the tunnel is missadjusted you will get a shadow on either one of the sides or top or bottom of screen.
Don't take the light tunnel assembly apart if you don't have to. as long as the tunnel down the length is not collapsed its fine.
This is a picture of the tunnel itself, it is mounted in the black assembly with the silver plate at the input end.

How long is this piece ? It disappears inside the plastic shell and I can't judge how long it is or if its safe to pry at it. It is fused to the plastic where it melted and rehardened.
