    Panasonic DMR-ES30V power issues

I picked up a Panasonic DMR-ES30V (UK). When I first plugged in there was nothing, appeared completely dead, I then turned it on and off a couple of times at the mains supply and it came on. It accepts a cassette but then spits it out straight away, the DVD drive functions sometimes but then the unit turns off with nothing on the display. I took the back off and noticed the fan does not spin. The display for the DVD side does seem a little dim when it is working.

I have looked on google and people say it is most likely a capacitor/s.

Just looking for some advice on which capacitors might need replacing. I am new to this so please excuse my ignorance

    Thanks.

Take a clearer picture of those blue caps, they look collapsed or swollen from the picture, but the picture may just be off focus

These are the ones, but it’s better to check all the others using an ESR meter.

Yup, several that are rounded up as lotas pointed out. Any that are rounded need replacing and then any that are imploded also. But as lotas said best to check with esr meter. Probably fixable

This one also looks imploded, at least from the pic

Thank you. How can I make sure there is no voltage left on the board before I start removing it? Am I correct in thinking you can get an electric shock when working on PSU's?

Also the board seems to be connected to the board on the VCR side, bridged with brittle looking connectors! How do I separate the boards?

Generally you can take a resistor and put them onto each leg of the capacitor. I don't know which rating, maybe a 10k resistor, Google can help, and it will slowly drain it. Or just wait several hours to a day and check with your multimeter for any voltage left. If you can't check with multimeter because the connector on bottom side, you can just wait a day or 2 should be discharged

As for removing it. No clue. Does look interesting the connectors.

Again thanks for the info. Just one more question, can you get capacitor kits on somewhere like AliExpress that cover the ranges I need? I have another Panasonic that will need new caps, thought a kit would be a cheaper way of going about it!

Ahh I thought you meant you were ready to tear it apart today. If you don't mind waiting then it's best to get something like this

                    https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0F6Lxi

You know how to solder yes? To change them you'll need to do that

And yes you can get capacitor kits.. but generally a pack of 10 caps for your specific ones you need is probably 1-2$ so buying a kit may not have the exact ones you need, but maybe they do. Generally when I looked at the kit they didn't provide what I needed so just bought individually

I can solder, most certainly not an expert but I think I should be able to do this. I will order ESR Tester off AliExpress as I think they will be cheaper than Amazon.

I am no rush to get this fixed, will be nice to get it up and running and hopefully I will be able to repair some other faulty units.

I am struggling to find the 680ufF6.3v on AliExpress, well ones that ship by AliExpress. 680uF 10v don't seem as tricky to find. Sellers in the UK want about 6 times the price for 1!

I don't know the answer, but I'm sure the 10v ones will be fine. Pretty sure you can go up in voltage. And caps are super easy to solder anyway.

                                  It also happens at 560, 680, 820, 1200uF You can safely install 1000uF x 10v-16v

yes of course... the important here the V rate should be higher... this why it got all load and blow up, but because we go to high rate v... then will be better same uf

Yes, higher voltage (10, 16, 25v,...) is possible, but lower voltage is not possible.

And most importantly, observe the polarity of the capacitor (-, +) when replacing with new ones.

My name is Haris and, I am new to the forum. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Little back story on me and the issues that we are dealing with...
I work on a fleet that uses Panasonic CF-20s we have about 65 of them. Up until the beginning of the year they all had warranty so all the repairs were covered. Fast-forward to now and all of the units are out of warranty and it can't be extended past this point. We don't have the budget this year to replace them, so we will be stuck trying to fix any issues that may come up.

Hi guys got a Corolla factory cd cassette player that was giving a lot of issues. It's from 06 Corolla, my friend the same unit in his corolla and he has the same issues.

                                          1. Stereo restarts by itself (thought loose connection but does this on bumpy and non bumpy surfaces) ''ST'' letters would blink on off on the radio when this would happen.
                                          2. Audio cuts in and out randomly for a second or a few minutes at a time.
                                          3. Shows MTL ERROR (randomly or after turning it on) assuming to do with tape deck which actually plays.

Hello. I need help opening the service menu on a Panasonic TC-59R62
Its an old CRT with bad overscan. The top left of the screen is cut out and I need to adjust it. Ive tried multiple methods online ie, holding volume down on the TV then pressing recall (with the 30m timer as well). Nothing I have tried has been able to bring up the menu if there's one at all.
Or is there an adapter I could use to fix this? Trying to use the TV for old retro games but again the top left of the screen is cut out and cant see anything displayed there.

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

                                          Panasonic TH-65AX800A PSU Issues?

                                          Hi all

I have a Panasonic TH-65AX800A that turns on for about 2 seconds and then turns itself off.

I got it like this hoping it was just a bad cap and an easy fix.

I have pulled the power board and cannot see any obvious capacitor damage.

Is there any other likely causes? Anything else I should check for?

                                          The power board is
                                          TNPA5937 2P
with an additional silver sticker saying
                                          A1318VAL
                                          TNPA5937DA
                                          V1434

I have tracked down another power supply which has the markings
                                          TNPA5937 2P...
