Do you have a multimeter. If so and I doubt this is the problem but you could check the speakers resistance to make sure it's within spec and not blown. They usually have the magnet marked 4ohm or 8ohm or 16ohm ect.

Your right I also doubt it.
When I change the setting to turn off the speaker the wine goes away so I suspect they work, also not likely that both would fail at the same time.
I have ran across a couple of Vizio E420VA 42" with the same problem, There was a fuse that was blown on the main board, so I replaced the fuse, the audio chip, I check other components surrounding the audio chip, fuse stop blowing, but still no audio. sold the main board as is
You can start by checking the fuse for the +12v going to the audio section. You will have to remove the heat sink to examine the audio chip if the fuse is blown
Fuses are OK
I now have a added issue .. I tried to reset the unit and now I can't get past the language screen and none of the button on the side of the set work... might just have to scrap it or get a cheap main board.
The cost for main boards on ebay don't make sense for a sub $200.00 TV
I have the same original prob as Ny Jet Head, i have great pic but no sound but a feedback hum in the speakers, i followed the check Eking 676 suggested and i have continuity across both fuses F701 and F702. is there anything else to check from here? I have the same model also. Viseo says its to old (5yrs) and buy a new one, the picture is great, got to be someway to save it.
