    Panasonic TC-P50U50 / 8 blinks

    I have a Panasonic TC-P50U50 that has the 8 blinks of death/won't turn on. Thanks to the posts in this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32594, I was able to determine that I've got an SS board that is bad, thanks to a loose screw at the top that was holding it on. Arcing marks all over the place.

    My question to those of you out there that have dealt with this set: Is it worth spending the $170 for the TXNSS1SDUU/SS board from pstc.panasonic (as I can't seem to find anywhere else that sells these boards), or take it to a repair place and see if they can solder on the parts from the "Component Repair Kit"? I don't have the soldering skills that I think would be required to pull something like this off (diode/resistor/transistor) as posted in https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1383032300 .

    Thanks for reading this and any thoughts are appreciated.

    Most TV repair shops won't do custom repairs; if you bring a board to them they will probably tell you to bring the rest of the TV. There may be exceptions though.
    You might try finding a repair service on eBay or with Shopjimmy/Coppell TV repair/ModusLink PTS...

      not true,
      there are loads of shops that will fit the parts,
      they just wont warranty or test it. you will be paying for the soldering only.

        IC-152 goes bad with it too sometimes.....
        Shopjimmy has a kit that comes with R051,D041,Q051and IC-152 and better screws for $20.

        Don't try to replace IC-152 at 3am like I did,lol

          Thanks for the replies everyone.

          One final question - has anyone purchased parts from pstc.panasonic before? If so, do you know what kind of warranty they have?

          I'll reply to this thread with the outcome in the next day or so. This site and its forums are awesome - so glad I found it!!!

            i suspect there is no warranty because it could be damaged by other faulty parts.
