Look at LED on logic board - does it flash continuously once a second, or once every 5 to 7 seconds?

Patience, I do have a life outside of badcaps.

OK, I think Samsung have changed the pattern for E-series panels (2012.)

That looks like an error code to me.

I would check Vs/Va on power board.

ok tom had to switch the tv on and off a few times to get voltages, its as if there is a surge going through it every few seconds so tried to catch volatges but they where all jumping between 0v to what is listed below.

              VS 0.07v
              VS 0.07v
              NC 0v
              VA 0v
              GND
              D15v 14.49v
              D5.3v 5.24v
              GND
              VS-ON 3.15v
              VS-CON 0.74v
              PS-ON 3.32v
              GND

              hope this helps

                Re: Samsung PS51E450 Plasma Problem.

Ok, now unhook Y- and X-main board power connectors and repeat the test, check voltage on power board end. Does Vs rise higher?

disconnected those boards Tom, the 2 VS at 0.07v very slowly rises back up to that rather than jumping about

                    Re: Samsung PS51E450 Plasma Problem.

OK so far from what you've told me I'm thinking power board problem.
Can you provide a close up picture of the power board & I will highlight any necessary tests.
I would probably suggest a new power board - for a new TV like this they are likely to be cheap.

I have another board exact same as this pulled from a 43 inch model but all voltages seem to match. Could I try that ?

Board from 43" wouldn't be strong enough for a 51" It just wouldnt supply the current needed--although very similar, I'll bet the Vs transformer is smaller on the 43" PSU

It seems this PSU gets its on/off signal through the "X-main" (although calling it that is a bit of stretch, there's hardly anything on it...) That then might come from the Y-main or control board.

Can you get a picture of the labels around the X-main and Y-main connectors?

Yes - is there another connector running from X-main to the bottom panel boards or to the control board?

X-main right hand side board in that photo, I think there is one connector hiding behind the main board. Please locate it.
