LG 42" Plasma 42pc30 picture quality issue

    Hello,
Had a quick question for you bright polite fokes. Picked up a "broken" plasma. Previous owner complained of green picture. I set up tv an over all not too bad. Every thing works properly. Picture isn't super sharp, tiny bit of sparkle, and after of an hour a slight bit of green around I objects. Barly noticeable. If I wasn't looking for it I probably would not have seen it.
So I checked some values on the power supplie. Va and vs matched sticker on panel va 60, vs 186 but there was a second sticker with higher max number va 65 and vs 195. One thing I did notice is the sticker says 5.2 vdc and I only read 4.9vdc. I see adjustments for va, vs, and 3.3 but not 5vdc . So I guess my actual question is, the panel was build in 06 is this just the nature of the beast and the picture quality is what it is, or can I tweak anything.
I tryed getting into the service menu, I got in twice and it wouldn't let me back in for some reason. I pressed menu on remote and tv same time for 10 sec. Any input would be great. Thank you for your time. Jonesy

Always use the sticker with the five other ratings printed on it - the MAX are a "damage threshold" which should not be exceeded.

You have the common LG sparklies issue. It's fixable, but it's a bit of work. You need to get the control board flashed with new firmware to fix the issue. Unfortunately it can only be done with the special jig provided by LG costing around $150 to $200. A nice member on here by the name of capkid flashes these for about $25, which is a fair price IMO. Thank you for the fast response Tom66 I appreciate it! Would the firmware also cause the slight green around objects? And one more quick thing... The 5vdc is listed as 5.2 on every thing but I only measure 4.9 is that any concern or acceptable? Also I read a few things about some dc-dc converters on the sustain boards, do these ever require tweaking or is it uncommon to play with thos values? Thanks for the input appreciate it! Decided to play with some Tv's as a past time.

        by CyberPhoenix
Hello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
        by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

        Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

        First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Panasonic AG-1000B VHS player with bad picture quality
        by FZG
        Hello!

I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.

Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.

I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?

        Also, what mechanism is this?

        Any feedback is appreciated!...

Trying to Save - LG 60PH6700 60-inch plasma HDTV - Powers ON but no picture
        by KYBOSH
Saved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
        Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.

I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.

The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
        Will start troubleshooting tonight.
