    Samsung LNT4661FX/XAA distorted middle of screen

    this is an interesting one previous owner said there is something wrong with the panel stated by the repair shop well I can tell you that's not the panel as when I first turn the TV on with a black screen the menu came up perfect but as soon as I went to a snowy screen on air this popped up the menu still tries to come up in the foreground you can see the no signal pop up from here and there between the distortion so it definitely looks like a mainboard fault or possibly the power supply giving off wrong voltage. Any thoughts before I tear into it?

    Main board - RAM would be my bet. Some Samsungs have option for testing beforeDDR and afterDDR for narrowing fault down...

    Or if it has a motion FRC on T-con could be that (motion FRC is for 100/120Hz feature)

      Which mainboard ram would I be looking at? in the service menu the only option for ram check is Under checksum and that has 0000 and when I initialize it says D652. Does that mean anything?

          any chance the firmware is corrupt? I cannot seem to locate the firmware in Samsung's site.
          Thought I would give it a shot before I try to find a replacement or part the thing out.

          Funny, on accident I initialized the SW upgrade thru USB even though there is no USB in it. at the end of the 30 second scan the screen went wonky.
          Definitely a glitch on the mainboard. Tcon on ths unit is very basic, and it was manufactured mid 2007, wad there even a 120hz panel then?

            I would be surprised if corrupted firmware would cause this.I'd try heating/cooling stuff, maybe you can find the source of the fault as it sounds temperature dependent.

              Heating and cooling does not make.a difference on this one. Its stubborn. Actually out of the box cold it does it.
