His quote was " Unfortunately I came to it one day the set powers up but no sound or vision it was just out of warranty so I took it to a local tv repair shop, he has told me it is a software problem and is a common fault on this set , Panasonic won't release software info to indipendent repairers so decided to get a new tv it comes with power lead but no remote "

I emailed him to confirm that it didn't have any lines or sound and his reply was yes.

just go for it, there's no way I can say 100% it won't be what he says, just giving other scenarios to consider. There's plenty of help here for you.

It's worth it just for parts.

having taken the back off mine i have only found 2 green LED's.

One on the far left on the SN Scan Drive and one green LED on the SS X-Sus board.

None visible on the P, A, C1 or C2, (PSU, Main AV or Data Driver Ysus)

That's normal - green lights indicate ER circuit on those boards is working (which it should be if you have any kind of image on the panel.)

Couriered TV? I would be very surprised if the panel doesn't get smashed, make sure it's packed very well - how far away is it? for all the risk of it getting smashed might be worth the fuel to pick it up...

Note most couriers won't cover TV screens getting damaged in their insurance so I wouldn't buy that option as it's next to useless.

Its too far to pick up. I stay in Scotland and it is in Wales. I am going to offer extra money to have it packaged really well.

Decided against it, last minute change of mind after a car part of mine arrived in 3 parts. I think it was an omen.

So back to square 1. Where do i start with testing the electrics with the multimeter??

Shame that is a good deal, I might consider it if I could have picked it up, anyway...
Post a picture of your multimeter.
