Re: Panasonic Tx-P42U30B Vertical Multicoloured Lines
Decided against it, last minute change of mind after a car part of mine arrived in 3 parts. I think it was an omen.
So back to square 1. Where do i start with testing the electrics with the multimeter??

Re: Panasonic Tx-P42U30B Vertical Multicoloured Lines
His quote was " Unfortunately I came to it one day the set powers up but no sound or vision it was just out of warranty so I took it to a local tv repair shop, he has told me it is a software problem and is a common fault on this set , Panasonic won't release software info to indipendent repairers so decided to get a new tv it comes with power lead but no remote "
I emailed him to confirm that it didn't have any lines or sound and his reply was yes.

Re: Panasonic Tx-P42U30B Vertical Multicoloured Lines
Hmmmm so is it maybe worth switching it on with the back off and finding out which LED is not illuminated on both TV's? I fully understand that i should not touch anything on the back at all when it is on and for a while after it has been disconnected also....

Re: Panasonic Tx-P42U30B Vertical Multicoloured Lines
Yes if you could guide me through that would be great. I have done basic stuff using the multimeter with resistance on ABS sensors and also on car batterys. I will go and buy one tomorrow.
I opened up the telly again and tried to access the ribbon cables but it would be a major pain as the ribbon cables are only about 8mm in length so i think i would have to remove the ysus completely then re-attach it with the one missing ribbon cable. I have managed to find an exact match to my tv selling for spares and repairs...

Re: Panasonic Tx-P42U30B Vertical Multicoloured Lines
Hi Tom, thanks for the reply. On page 27 the symptoms are described exactly where it says 2011 model. The position/length of the colourful bars change position and length when volume or channel buttons are pressed.
My son pulled out his headphones about a fortnight before it broke and he ended up breaking off a HDMI cable with part of the metal left inside the TV, i had to use a set of fine pliers to remove the HDMI part. But it was ok for a fortnight before. If i took a video of the symptoms would that help at...

Here is a picture, apologies for having to tilt your head to the left as it was taken on my i phone.

Panasonic Tx-P42U30B Vertical Multicoloured Lines
I have had this TV for about a year and half bought from Comet which is now in administration. Basically long story short i cant get it fixed as i dont have the reciept. So i have no other choice than to fix it myself.
I was just watching it and all of a sudden these strange vertical lines appeared in varying colour from green to purple. They cover about a 1/3 rd of the middle of the television and the top and bottom third is basically completely black.
I contacted a professional on Fixya who insisted that it was the xsus board. So i bought one and replaced it and...
