    Power supply missing voltage.

I am still working on a tv that would only power on for about 6 seconds and then shut off. A couple days ago I found no voltage coming from a couple of the voltage regulators. They are both on the same heat sink. On the heat sink next to it there are 2 regulators also and they had roughly 6 volts coming out. I am trying to figure out where the bad component or short is. I am having a heck of a time. I was trying to determine whether it is one of the transformers or not. There are three transformers in a row and they are all common to each other on certain pins. I'm still not sure how that works. If they're all stepping different voltages why are they all common? And I can't find any results with the part numbers on the transformers or the regulators. I've seen where sometimes transformers have thermal resistors I was thinking that is a possibility. But the voltage must kick on for a quick time if the tv powers fully on. Also, The Diode on the same (no voltaged regulators) sink appears to have its Annodes common with ground. Is it normal to see reverse bias on these boards like that? All the caps seem good. Any help would be appreciated!

    Re: Power supply missing voltage.

Those are more likely rectifier diodes, TO-220 Common Cathode type. You should get the P/N as printed on the body to verify.
The board will have standby power supply section that is always on, the other power supplies will be switched on by the PS_ON signal from the main board.
So what is this power supply board is for? make and model of this TV you are working on?

Hitachi 42 plasma. Ill post the number later. I know on the working voltage regulators there was 6 volts on one pin and 3 on another pin. There are 5 pins. The component circled probably is a rectified type diode but the 5 pin ones i think are regulators.

The 5-pin is probably buck switching regulator, or a switched regulator that needs the On signal for the output to be present, not going to know until looking up the data sheets.

          Re: Power supply missing voltage.

Im still working on the datasheets. I had no luck last night. I was thinking since the one sink has voltage from its regulators that the signal would be present for the heat sink that is not working. Maybe that's not necessarily true i just thought it to be highly possible. But both sinks run off different transformers i think. The transformers show continuity between each other so that's what confuses me.

Now I have my list of numbers:

                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

good day hoping someone can lend a hand, im repairing smart tv 50 inch, status when turning on back light is dim but you can see the tv logo then slowly fading out to black, i check the supply to tcon, i only read 5+v, must be 12v, i removed lvds cable and check voltage to mainboard turned on its also 5v, then i remove the cable mainboard to power supply, i read 12v in power supply, thinking that the problem is in the mainboard, coz theres 12v in power supply, i also check while turning on checking volts in main board 12v dropping to 5v, im just new repairing in TV, hope someone see my post t...

Hi, my friend have this laptop
Before all voltage missing, im already repair this laptop 3x (i have 3 of this laptop and all of them dead, can't be repaired because dead CPU and other component due unknow chips, why always asus laptop have this issue).

1st repair it short at 3vsus (dead low side mosfe and short caps)
2nd repair short at CPU Vcore mosfet (low side)
3rd repair 12v missing (only 1.2v but it can run bios and hdd not detected because 3vs missing).
and then after 3x enter BIOS it blank then dead (all mosfet buzzing, 12v still missing)

                hi

i am troubleshooting an old carvewright cnc machine

it powers on fine but when i test x y or z axis none of the axis will move and i just get axis stall fault

the history of this machine is bad..it was stored in a shed for about 15 years..its in bad shape lots of rust

i have been working on it mechanically for 2 days..li have gotten it all freed up and mechanically its all good

as i said it power up fine .and everyhting seems to function fine other than the x y z axis servo motors not powering on at all......i have dont...
