Grrr What's Holding On Capacitive Touch Board to Frame ?

I broke the damn socket removing the cable from the touch board that sits in the frame of a Samsung UN55D6000.

What holds these boards in place ? Are they wedged in or is there some type of glue underneath and is it safe to forcibly pry it up ?

it is glue. Well actually it's some kind of double sided sticky tape I have already pulled a few of myself. Yours must really be stuck I was able to remove mine with just a little force. If all else fails I have one of these touch board if you need it ..

best way to pull it off use a little heat at the same time it'll come right up
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

They're glued to the frame in most cases.

Ok thanks guys I will try and use a LITTLE heat it looks like a place that won't tolerate much (rather flexible and somewhat clear plastic bezel).

freak, you have the touch board from this model ? Have either of the LED backlight strips ?

freak you out there ? I got this off and proceeded to fix the wiring but can't see where the trace from the last pad (next to the CN1 silkscreen) goes to.

Can you check some components on yours for continuity with this pad so I can finish it up ? Thanks man.

The leftmost pad in the pic is grey the rest are black.

Here's a pic of the board and one with the markings. If you have the same or similar board point out on the third pic where you find continuity with the right-most pad from above pic (I've got the connector on now so you can't see really see it in these pics)

eBay seller amy_manas used a meter on one of these he had for sale (thanks bro!!!) and found the pad to lead to the diode on the other side of the board. Unit repaired. Thanks for the help fellas.

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Converting HP EliteBook 840 G7 non-touch to touch if possible
                    by trepachka
I am trying to convert a HP EliteBook 840 G7 notebook from a non-touch to a touchscreen. I purchased a complete touch LCD assembly with a screen/back cover/bezel/video cable and swapped it out with the original non-touch LCD assembly.
The screen works but the touch does not. I know the new LCD assembly is completely functional because we tried it on a similar touchscreen EliteBook 840 G7 and the touch works there.
I contacted the seller and he said screen conversion like this will not work due some difference in the motherboard for non-touch and touch capable EliteBook 840 G7.

Surface Pro 4/5 - no touch after LCD change
                    by Prott
                    Hello,
I have a question that's driving me a bit nuts recently.

Is the touch board on Surface Pro 4/5 somehow married to the motherboard? I have a few Surfaces that, after the touch board change, lost all touch functionality.

                    - I tried flashing the bios (simple ME clean from a known good bios, previous bios didn't have an intergrated hub enabled), reinstalling firmware, reinstalling windows and even new touch boards.
                    - In one instance, after I tried to troubleshoot by using a known good screen + touch pcb combo on a Surface that lost touch, the touch board...

                    Graphics Card mounting frame
                    by Kemer
Hello, I removed the graphics card from my laptop and I want to heat it in the oven. What I want to ask is, is it okay to heat the card without removing the metal mounting frame on it?

As you can see in the photo, there is a plastic (black) gasket between the metal frame and the card. It sticks the frame tightly to the card.

I previously removed the metal frame while heating it, but it is quite difficult to separate it from the surface it is attached to. If there is no problem, I do not want to remove it.

What worries me right now is the possibility that...
