    Bad picture samsung UE46D5005

Hey everyone, I like to fix things or try at least.
My latest buy was a Samsung lcd tv with a broken screen.
So I opened it up and suspect that it could the capacitors but none was bulging uppwards.
Any ideas on where I should start measure or what I should start with.

Appreciate all the help I could get.

If you look closer to the tv picture it allmost looks like horizontal lines in it and it distort the picture.
Doesn't have that clear picture that it should have.

Yes--I see the pic fault--Its like a displaced vertical image, a 'ghosting' effect,--strangely on this one--the whole picture.

Seen it many times, where only half or less is displaced, It was the T-Con in those cases messing round.
Also had the ribbon-cables mess around causing similar effects--Worth re-seating and carefully cleaning them anyway....
In one case I had, It was the actual display-panel itself, not sure what caused that fault on the panel though, I scrapped it....

(Horrible to think--That set was prob best part of £700--and there's 'Nothing' inside it!)

Less to go wrong. Look inside a early or a 4 year old 60" LG Plasma TV.
They are boards that take up almost every square inch inside. With Plenty

I would disagree. Now all the major electronics are on the panel. When they go wrong, the panel and TV is scrap. In those older TVs you could narrow it down to a board, usually, by tracing signals and voltages, and parts could be replaced individually, at lower costs.

Okej, so if it could be the T-Con board how can I decide if it´s?

Easiest (all-be-it not the cheapest) is by substitution with a known good T-con

So i cant measure it somehow to decide if it's broken, before I buy a new t-con board?
It couldn't be caps with bad esr or current regulatorer that is leaking?

I've had success changing the ribbons on a 32'' Samsung with the same problem

                      Re: Bad picture samsung UE46D5005

Could it be the caps on it? I have measured the ESR on all on them.
Can someone link to a good page that says what is good value on them.
                      The measures is:
All of them is of the brand Sam young

                      50 V 10 μF = 46 mΩ
                      50 V 10 μF = 40 mΩ
                      50 V 47 μF = 50 mΩ
                      50 V 22 μF = 120 mΩ
                      450 V 82 μF = 470 mΩ
                      50 V 22 μF = 160 mΩ
                      50 V 47 μF = 75 mΩ

And there some of them that I can't say what voltage and Farad
but there is one that has 2 Ω in ESR could this be broken or could it have that high ESR and still work?

Also could this problem occur if a current regulator is broken?

Gratefull for all the help I could get.

Will try to clean the ribbons today aswell!

A small cap could have 2ohm esr and still be in spec. You can look up a generic esr table for ballpark figures or check the spec sheet for a particular manufacturer. They should always be tested out of circuit unless you are sure the circuit they are in are not affecting readings.

Is there someone who is having a service book on this modell?
Also is samsung using same ribbons on diffrent model tv and also is there any diffrent in T-con boards? Because I have one working samsung UE40D6535WSxxE that I was thinking about changing the T-con board to see if that is the problem.

Try taking panel out of the frame there is small screws all the round the edge of the panel loosen these to see if picture improves

Why would it improve the picture?
Been in contact with a shop that was selling the T-con board and they say that after watching this picture they think it´s the panel and not the T-con board what is your opinion?
If you look on the lower part of the picture, there is a slice of the picture that is good, is that meaning it´s the panel?

Yes in general if part of the picture is OK then it is almost always "panel" I'm afraid!
D-series Samsung LED/LCD are TERRIBLE for panel reliability. 4th D-series this week maybe? Not sure, but they keep on dying.
