    Definitely 20ohm 5%, looks flameproof, impossible to tell wattage with so little to go by, but definitely way over 1/4 watt.

    OP, how'd ya get 10ohms out of red black black gold?

    First and second color:
    Black=0
    Brown=1
    Red=2
    Orange=3
    Yellow=4
    Green=5
    Blue=6
    Violet=7
    Grey=8
    White=9

    Third color (multiplier):
    Silver=.01
    Gold=x.1
    Black=x1
    Brown=x10
    Red=x100
    Orange=x1000
    Yellow=x10000
    Green=x100000
    Blue=x1M

    Fourth color (tolerance):
    none=20%
    Silver=10%
    Gold=5%

    (Red=2 Black=0) = 20 x Black=x1 = 20 ohms

    Usually those resistors fail if there is a short on the buffer board.

    How to choose replacement resistors

    Hey guys. I've recently purchased a replacement Y-Main board for a Vizio VP50 HDTV10A. This is the 2nd Vizio that I've been able to repair by repairing the power supply and then replacing the Y-Main and buffer boards. Although it felt good to see the TV's up and running, it would be much more fulfilling to repair the broken Y-Main. I've carefully inspected the board and found 2 burnt resistors. After checking all of the other resistors, there were several others that were out of the tolerance. In fact, only 2 of them on the board were good. I spent some time researching and understanding the color coding system and was able to determine that the 2 resistors in the photo are a 10ohm resistor.
    What I don't understand is how to determine the correct wattage. I made a trip to Radio Shack and they had some 1/4W 10 Ohm resistors but they were physically smaller in size. I have a few different resistors and don't want to buy the wrong ones.
    Any advice for a NOOB?

    Schematic vs. Reality: Where Are the Resistors on My Sharp Clock Radio? Model FY-70CH
    by TinkerTron
    Hey everyone,

    I'm currently working on a mid-70s Sharp Electronic Digital Clock Radio, Model FY-70CH. I found the service manual online, printed it out, and have been studying it for a while. My main reasons for tackling this are: (1) I want to learn electronics and figured I'd start with something I had on hand, and (2) I want to fix its issues. Right now, the radio sounds awful, has about 5V DC at the speaker terminals, and the alarm time setting doesn't work. But I'm not asking how to fix these problems.

    Instead, here's what's been bugging me so far:
    The schematic...

    How to find out what resistors i need as a replacement?
    by lolich112
    Hey,
    I have a Palit GTX 750 StormX with 2 gigs. on the backside right above the pcie connectors there are multiple conponents (See in the pics). I suppose those are resistors or capacitors. 2 of them broke of and now I need 2 replacements. I looked arround for some schematics but couldn“t find any. Someone have an idea how to identify those?
    Thanks in advance!...

    Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?
    by the_rem
    Hello guys,

    I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

    I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

    Hot Air Blew Away Resistors Near Bios
    by brightest_z
    Hi All - I'm in the midst or reprogramming the bios on my gen1 Surface Laptop Studio and I accidentally blew away 2 resistors nearby the bios. I don't have another board to measure values of the missing resistors and schematics aren't available, bbut the bios is a 6x5mm Winbond WSON8, W25R256JWPQ model. The traces are conductive to Pins 3 and 7 (IO2 & IO3 respectively) so I have reason to believe they are 10k pull up resistors since IO2&3 pins are used for Quad SPI instructions.

    Does anyone with more knowledge, and experience than I, know if this is the case?

    PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue
    by ezenia
    Hello,

    Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

    So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

    I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,...
