LG 60PV450-UA Flickering Green Lines (w/pics)

Hey guys, I have a little bit of electronics experience, but none with plasma TVs. Any ideas on where to start with this one?

    What happened:

-Friend had his laptop connected via HDMI, everything was working normally.
-Friend received a warning that his laptop battery was low
-Friend plugged his laptop into the wall via his adapter.
-TV immediately went dark and then started flickering with horizontal green lines like in the attached pictures.
-Friend said 'oh shit.' A good way to sum it up, I think.

    Symptoms:

-Green lines/boxes that move around the screen and flicker on and off. Sometimes the on screen display can be seen between the lines (like in the top left corner of the second picture) but sometimes the screen is totally dark.
-Power comes on, speakers produce sound
-I can change inputs, but the symptoms stay the same, even with no cables attached.

    Things I've checked:

-Obvious stuff like fuses/burned chips. All the fuses tested fine.
    -No warped caps.
-Ribbon cables all seem to be well-seated.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Either that tv is a portal to the matrix or I would say that you have a control board issue possibly. Otherwise known as a logic board. Or a faulty mainboard. This is the center small board in the middle of the tv. Unplug tv and jumper the auto _ gen test mode. There will be two holes in the board for this. Then power up. Should see an array of colors and white bars going throughout the screen. Let us know what you find out.

Thanks, I will definitely try that when I get home tonight and report back.

Big fan of the matrix, though. In a way I will be sad to see it fixed!

Okay, so I just jumped auto_gen and ran the test patterns. Everything looks perfect to my eye, but I uploaded a video just in case. The streaky lines are all thanks to my unbelievably crappy blackberry. In person no flaws are visible.

Does that mean the logic/control board is probably okay?

          Maybe a main board issue?

I really appreciate the help so far!

It's a bad mainboard. Replace it.

This is the Board that all the inputs connect to.

The poor video quality is just an artefact of how plasmas work, I have a good camera and the flickering happens too. I concur with bad mainboard.

ACER BM320 Monitor - Horizonal Flickering Lines After a While
                  by reessi
                  Hello,

The monitor started off showing flickering thin (1 pixel) lines horizontally every say 3mm..

They are black on the right and gradually fade to nothing on the far left.
They start either after 5 mins or up to 2 hours after so annoying for testing.
They flicker continuously very fast! With a slight pause milli-second every second.

Initially I cleaned the LVDS cable and connected to the T-Con and then it worked fine for 3 weeks but not sure if this was just co-incidence.

I tested each half by removing the first the left flex from...

Hi, I have this tv a LG 55UH661V that show flickering images and lines. I tried to take off one at time the right and the left ribbon cable and put the tape for ask the pin…but nothing working. Or I stop to have picture or still flickering. What I notice the buffering board, the flat cable becomes very hot, I don’t think it s normal, I’m talking about the orange flat cable soldering on the buffering board, both side are very hot. I give you the photo with both the ribbon cable on and a photo with the right off and with the lefts...

Dell U3419W horizontal lines and flickering
                  by Guybrush
After watching too many electronics repair videos (but not monitors) I came across a dell monitor with flickering horizontal lines. I haven't purchased it yet so don't have much info, but from the video and pic do you think there is a chance of repair or is just simple panel damage?

Seller claims; "but due to sun damage has some grey lines going through it"

Samsung UE70TU7100 - flickering horizontal lines
                  by mrsith
                  Hello again good souls.

Got an UE70TU7100. The TV starts up just fine, but right hand side of the screen is horizontal striped a bit, and there are some flickering horizontal lines on the whole length of the screen. I've seen similar static horizontal lines sometimes, when applying the cut tape method and covering wrong number of pins.

I've cleaned every connector with ipa, tried cut tape method on main LVDS ribbon as well as small ribbons, connecting the panel boards at the bottom. Tried squeezing the bezel and playing around COFs, but no reaction at all. COFs and...
