    sony kdl-40z5100 14 blinks

hey guys so I picked up this TV today and when plugged in no lights no back lights no screen but it shuts off with the original 13 blink then a 14 link error code I checked the pins and inverter error is getting 1.9 volts BL error is 0 all other voltages are there I read on the forums about other similar TVs but I cannot find this model I know that 14 blanks means LCD panel air but I can't determine what's going on all fuses check out good on t-con board and main board and power supply.

I want.to try to power up the back lights because that is zero volts but what I apply 3.3 votes to it or what I short backlight on to ground?

If the T-CON does not get the 12V feeding it, then it will give you the error. Check the DC voltage at both ends of the fuse of the T-CON board with ref. to the chassis ground to see what you have. The error codes may not apply t this chassis, Ii cannot find the serrvice manual for this model yet.

Ok that makes sense. There are like 6 or 7 fuses in the tcon all test good. But ill check for 12v input to tcon.

Also there is no voltage to backlight on no voltage to balancer error but there is 1.9v on inverter error. Groynded it and still same issue. Tcon is receiving 12v and there is bo power on the big wiires to the inverters. No 12v on the yellow wire or no pfc out 395v.

Scratch that. There is pfc and 12v going to the inverters. Had to use pfc ground to measure. Thinking bad mainboard

Holy cow, that is one big T-CON board with about 9 switching power supplies on board. I would try heating those two Lytics SMD on the left side first. I am not sure how good your meter with frequency counter function, you can try to see what you read right at the tow legs of each caps.
I use my meter to locate bad caps on the logic board using my Fluke.

Well here's where the problem in lies.
The left ic has to be heated for it to turn on. These pick up off the lvds cable on the tcon.

                                      Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
                                      by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

                                      Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
                                      It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

                                      Thanks in advance!...

                                      Hi all,

I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

Any Sony experts out there that can help??...

Hi everyone! I am a new member and am new to electronics repair. I have a background in electrical engineering, but little experience in electronics.

I have a Sony XR-77A80K which will not turn on and has 5 blinking red lights in the stand-by light. I had previously done a forced factory reset, which removed the error code, and the TV regained functionality for a few weeks. I repeated the factory reset and again regained functionality. This happened a few times until I so I had to begin troubleshooting the error.

                                      Observations:
                                      1) I noticed I was not getting...

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?

Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
                                      a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
                                      b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...
