Re: LG Plasma 60pk950-UA no picture or sound
OK, that's good.
See attachment.
With TV OFF and UNPLUGGED:
- Disconnect the blue highlighted cable, by pressing each clip gently and pulling backwards with minimal force.
- Place a wire link between the two holes marked in red.
Then plug TV in and turn on if it is in standby.
You may or may not see test patterns, but if you do, it indicates the main board is bad (not this board... the board with HDMI etc.)Leave a comment:

Re: LG Plasma 60pk950-UA no picture or sound
I have the same model which has no sound or picture. Followed the troubleshoot by Tom66 and I found the Y-sus is bad first. Replaced Y-sus and found the Y low buffer is bad. Replaced Y low buffer, got perfect picture at lower part of screen and found the Y up buffer is bad as well. Ordered the Y up buffer. It should fix my TV for sure.Leave a comment:

If that board is bad like you said, will it affect the whole functionality of the TV?Leave a comment:

Since there are test patterns and with the possibility it was hit with a power surge.. Mainboard failureLeave a comment:

Reseated both ends of LVDS. As far as a power sure I don't know. A while back the HDMI port on my DirecTV DVR burnt out and they assumed it was a power surge.Leave a comment:

Re: LG Plasma 60pk950-UA no picture or sound
Before you rule main board out make sure LVDS (cable between main and control) is seated properly both ends. Did the TV experience a power surge of some kind? It could have damaged the main board then taken out the Y-buffer, but that is quite rare.
Note: Main board is the one with HDMI on it.Last edited by tom66; 12-04-2013, 04:34 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: LG Plasma 60pk950-UA no picture or sound
Great, replace the lower Y-buffer and your TV should be fixed. You could donate a few bucks to the service manual's site in my signature (http://www.toms-service-manuals.com/) or buy some capacitors from badcaps.net for your next project. I don't know if topcat takes donations directly, but you could PM him to ask...Leave a comment:

Re: LG Plasma 60pk950-UA no picture or sound
Ok, its the lower buffer. With it unhooked the voltages are good and the top half of the screen has a faint white glow. Thanks a million for your help. Also is there a way to donate to the forum or to you for the great service provided?Leave a comment:

Re: LG Plasma 60pk950-UA no picture or sound
The Vsc and -Vy are written on the plasma panel, see the documentation previously linked for how to read the PDP60R1 label.
If the Vsc and -Vy measure correctly with the buffers in place and all connections correct, you should be able to see a little glow from the screen.Leave a comment:

Re: LG Plasma 60pk950-UA no picture or sound
OK, something strange going on. I unplugged the white wire going between the buffers. Uhooked p104 and tested voltage and it was good. Hooked p104 and unhooked p105, tested and voltage was good. Hooked everything back up and voltage was good? Also I guess I need to know what voltage you want checked. Also what should I see for voltage on Vsc and -Vy?Leave a comment:

Is that the small white wire connection between them? If so, yes. Isolate that at the same time.Leave a comment:

by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.

by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... -
by jchangHi all
I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.
Symptom:
No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
No sound at all.
What I tried:
1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon... - Loading...
- No more items.
