50" LG Plasma 50PC1DR Pinkish snow fixed!

Hey guys I just got this older LG plasma with those pesky IPMs. Once turned on there's a pinkish distortion but I can hear sound (this is on the TV input, see the photo).

I noticed if I change the input the screen goes black except for a wide vertical bar on the screen. If I press any buttons (menu, volume up down) the bar would change positions or get wider.

Opening up the TV I first expected a bad Y-sus or Z-sus. I found the usual one bad mosfet (FQB46N15) on the Y buffers. I gave it a shot just replacing it since I bought a bunch of extras from a previous repair. Put everything back on, plugged it in, expecting some smoke (or the mosfet to blow again) but turned it on and the TV is repaired and back normal!

I actually didn't expect to fix this one so easily, I was going to actually just replace the IPMs on the boards and resell only the boards. I probably might still just resell the boards since theres more profit in these boards then actually selling the whole working tv...

Nice. Yeah, that looked like a bad buffer to me. It seems like a shame to strip this perfectly working TV, but you have to do what's best for you.

Yeah still deciding if I could sell the tv itself, plus it has a bit of scratches on the glass screen so that can be a killer.. Its not noticeable at all when a picture is on but yeah you know how people can be.
I actually still have the main parts from a previous 50" vizio that ended up with a bad panel. I could also swap the panel from this lg to the vizio.

Which name would probably sell better though? 50" LG or 50" Vizio ?

LG seems to be the more upscale of the two, especially in the plasma TV world.

Static/Snow Picture on Hitachi Plasma P50X102A
          by glutton4punishment
          Hi!

I'm trying to fix this TV (duh!), thanks for your help!

The image has an overall white cast to it with purple and green areas of hue, and lots of snow when there's no input. With input, the image looks like a blend of the image and the the white/green/purple/snow background.

The menus and error message ("no input signal") appears on the screen very clear without problems. The menu and error message appear in a navy blue box with yellow letters, or a black box with yellow letters and a red exclamation point.

          All caps/components...

          Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV
          by ArMaaN376
          Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
          a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
          c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.
How to confirm Y -Buffer board...

          Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
          by jm1234
          Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
          by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

LG 60PV400-UB plasma TV with sound but no picture FIXED
          by Yanleb
Hi all, I just want to share the fix on a LG 60PV400-UB plasma TV. It has sound, but no picture.

The power supply was ok, supplying VS and VA to the Y sustain board.

The Y sustain board (EBR73561201 or EAX64232001) had no VSB and VY voltage. Still no VSB and VY after disconnecting the Y buffer boards. The only problem I found was an open fuse at position FS104 (2A 125V).

Before reconnecting the Y buffer boards, I checked them for shorted buffer chip. And as expected, I found one at position IC251 on the lower Y buffer board (EBR73561001 or EAX64231901)....
