One of the ebay sellers mentioned that if I had a short on the SC2 connection then the board was bad. Can anyone verify this? I set my MM to continuity test and I touched it to both prongs on the SC2 connection (the board is out of the TV now) and sure enough heard the beep.

Hold the probes across SC2 for at least 10 seconds. If the reading doesn't change, or you still get a beep, it's dead.

See if these guys have the board you need, they are a 'real' component level repair business: ModusLink PTS, Inc.
I got my sc board from them and it's working fine so far, (fingers crossed).

Everything I've done seems to indicate I also have an SC failure (7 blinks, had distorted picture as seen in the luminescence error on slide 99 of the 2011 guide, confirmed no shorts on the 1080 SC/SU connectors.)

I can confirm that my board also measures continuity on the two SC2 prongs, which this thread indicates is an SC failure.

Unfortunately... nobody seems to have these SC boards in stock, and from the other thread, https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=25029, it seems like they won't be back in until January, which is a shitty situation.

I bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-TC.../171178848646? for $80, will ship it to them tomorrow. Hopefully their turnaround is decent and this is in fact the broken board for me. Will report back.

Hey Appazolini, yes please let us know how it goes. I was contemplating using that ebay seller because they were also very responsive to my e-mail questions and he had good feedback as well as the best price.
Though I am also leaning towards ModusLink because they have gotten a lot of good feedback from this forum. (Just do a search for ModusLink to see what people had to say). This whole experience sucks in general as I only bought my Plasma back in July 2011.

You should also try checking the SU and SD (Buffers) for shorts.
To test:
Using a Multi Meter, set to Diode Mode, Place the + (Red) lead on one of the pads where the buffer screws onto the SC Board and, using the - (Black lead) run the lead over the connector, where the screen ribbon connects to the Buffer, in a zipper like fashion to determine whether there are any shorted IC's, then , you will need to check the mosfets on the SU and AD to make sure there are no shorts. If there are any shorts, you must replace either the corresponding IC or the buffer. BEFORE, ever even trying to replace the SC Board or, you will short the NEW SC Board.

Ebay has a kit, which contains the replacement Mosfets to repair the SC Board, if you have the ability to solder surface mounted components(It is not actually very difficult)

This should save you a couple of Hundred $$$

@electronicsurplus, thanks for the tip on testing the buffer boards, I believe Tom mentions this as well and even has a youtube video. Although I wasn't aware to test the Mosfet on the SU and SD. What does it look like or where is located?

There aren't any MOSFETs on SU/SD boards on any modern Panasonic plasmas... only older Samsung/LG AFAIK.

Agree with Tom here, I am currently in the process of fixing my 7 blinks aswell (panasonic plasma 3d 2011 model). The replacement parts for the fixes on ebay are great however I found none that actually had the right amount of parts. most of the packages come with 3 30F131 and 3 RJP30H2A (Or similar) parts and at the moment I am replacing 12+. These components are IGBT's not FET's although they do have a FET arrangement internally.

Best thing to is any and all diagnostics you can get your hands on prior to ordering parts so you save on shipping etc. obviously some diagnostics are not possible without first fixing a board but from what I have found the PCB's are laid out quite well so you can use jumpers etc to diagnose.

Also fairly hard to point you the in the right direction of them but they are a rather large surface mount component with 3 legs the center leg is chopped and doesn't connect anywhere. these components should not have a low Ohms reading across any of the pins (including the back of the component which is a pin in itself) Also if you can read the writing on them they will either say 30F131 or RJP30HXX (I have found some peoples have 2E mine say 2A in replacement to the XX)

I put the order in to have my SC board repaired by ModusLink PTS. I will ship it out tommorrow and will report back in a week with my findings. I tested for shorts on the SU and SD boards by placing the red MM connection on the ground and doing the "zipper" test at the ribbon connections with the black probe and no beeps. As Tom mentioned above I don't think there are MOSFETS on my SU and SD and looking at pics of what MOSFETS generally look like I didn't see any.

I will post back in a week or so when I get the repaired board back incase anyone is following I'm hoping to get this done before Christmas.

Hi RF,

Before you send the SC board I would suggest checking the components marked in red (Not only for the SC board but the top right hand board as well) otherwise they will fix the SC only to find the other board has the same fault. The 2 pins and the rear heat sink(collector) pin should not be shorted or low ohms - Mine were 80 ohms

Gated, that image isn't showing up very well for me. Could you please re-upload? Would like to test before plugging in the fixed SC board when it arrives.

I've done the "zipper" test and received no beeps, so I'm hopeful SD/SU are ok, but I can't quite make out what you're suggesting.

Hi Apazzolini,

I grabbed that picture off another forum however its identical to mine/rfedeleo's model - The picture is of the SC board obviously however the same components are used on the SS board(top right looking from behind). I dont have the TV at work with me otherwise I would take some pictures of my findings.
