    Vizio m420nv no audio, Eeprom?

    I got this m420nv. at first the problem was that HDMI 2 input does not work. I plugged in the other hdmi and everything worked fine.

    After just plugging and unplugging each HDMI, now I don't have sound at all anymore... I checked all the other inputs (AVI, antenna, etc) and there all have no sound now!

    I was wondering is it possible that this is an eeprom problem on the main board?

      Possibly but also check digital audio out settings, try analog audio, make sure TV speaker set on, etc.

          What do you mean by analog audio? None of the inputs are giving any audio. Its strange since it was working before but after I plugged into the HDMI 2 input (which doesn't work) I don't have any audio on any input now.

              Any update on this? Did you ever get it solved?

              I ask because I also have a m420nv. Everything was working except the first hdmi slot. Then the second slot went out. Then all the slots went out. I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I thought our issues could be related.

              Then I bought a new cable to make sure it wasn't my cable, the screen went completely blank, no matter the source. Audio was still working from the antenna, though. I let it sit for many months, and recently turned it on, and now tv(video and audio) from the antenna is working, but the hdmi slots still don't. I've been considering just buying a new logic board for it and hoping that solves it, but I don't want to spend the money, if that's not the issue.

              I haven't yet taken it apart to give it a good examination.

                  It seems like my picture went out sometime after I had tried to plug into the bad hdmi port.

                      Never figured out the problem with it. I bought a new eeprom for the main board but decided not to put it in. I didn't want to risk bricking the somewhat working main board and I end up having to replace the entire board itself for $150...

                      Everytime HDMI 2 was plugged in, the picture was never aligned right and also caused all the other inputs to do the same and screw up until the tv was unplugged and reset. I just covered it up and blocked it with tape so it can't be accessed anymore and I ended up just making an amplifier to hook onto separate speakers for like $15 and used as-is.

                          It probably makes no difference, but what were you plugging in to the hdmi port? I was plugging in a desktop with an nvidia 650ti.

                          It's a little peculiar, because the 650ti recognizes the tv when the tv is set to any hdmi port that the 650ti is not plugged into, but the 650ti loses recognition as soon as the tv is set to the correct hdmi port. These seems to be true of all the ports.

                          I currently don't have any other hdmi devices to check with(I don't have the right cables, but they are in the mail). I checked the rgb port on the tv, and it seems to be working. Color is off, but I think that's the fault of the laptop I plugged into it.

                                  This problem sounds just like the Vizio SV470M. It is possible it could be a bad CPU. Here is the thread for the discussion about the SV470M

                                  What is the part number of the CPU on the main board of the M420NV? Is it MT5392UVSJ

                                      The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

                                      Hi everyone

                                      I´m trying to repair a TV Vizio E320-A0 that I found in the street

                                      The symptoms are it doesn't respond with remote or buttons, the LED indicator is always off and also there is no image on the TV.

                                      The power supply board works fine (I probed the terminals with my multimeter) but in the main board the EEPROM doesn't works correctly because the voltage on the pins doesn't match with the parameters of the datasheet.

                                      So, I´m going to replace the EEPROM with a new one, but the problem is that my programmer (CH341a)...

                                      I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                                      Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                                      I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                                      The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                                      With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                      Hi everyone,

                                      I was trying to repair this Vizio 32 inch and have isolated it to the EEPROM. The symptoms are it does not respond to the power button and so no backlights or any indication that the button was even pressed. Applying freeze spray to the EEPROM while the set is unplugged, and then plugging it in and all is well.

                                      Now I know I can buy pre-programmed EEPROMS for $15.00 or so, but I wanted to do this myself. So, the original EEPROM is Winbond 25Q64FSIG. I ordered this but received a 25Q64JSIG, which has slightly different timing characteristics. Well, being hopeful...

                                      I tore apart my instrument cluster for my 2008 Toyota Corolla made in 2007 in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada and pcb location: IC6=EEPROM is a surface mounted device with part # of 93C46W7, some claim the EEPROM out of a Camry part # 93C56 will allow odometer to roll over 299 999 KM or miles. The data sheet for both is below:
