Samsung LCD LN-T3232H Red Light With Nothing Else

Hello and thank you for checking this out. I haven't been on this forum in awhile.

I have a Samsung LCD LN-T3232H. When it's plugged in the red light turns on, but nothing else. The light stays lit solid for a number of seconds then turns off and back on (if it's like the Panasonic plasmas with the number of blinks related to number of seconds please let me know). The remote makes the light blink when pressed, but with the HDMI plugged in there is no video or sound.

I have replaced three small capacitors on the BN44-00192A power supply and one large cap (the largest). So far the result is the same. I'm not so lucky to have the "most common" issue.

Any ideas? I still feel like it's a power supply issue, but I'm not sure if there's something else on the board I need to check. I can upload clear photos of the board if needed. Thanks for your help guys!

Thanks Tom! Here are different angles of the three main boards. Let me know if you need anything else or if you (hopefully) have any advice. I really appreciate it!

CMO inverter board with one of those black fuse, but we need to find out first what voltages you are getting at the connectors of the power supply.

Thanks for the comment, budm. By this you mean test each prong of each connector on the power supply using a multi-meter?

The connector between the power supply board and the inverter board should have some kind of voltage labels to tells us which pin is for 24v, ground, bl_on (inv_on or on/off), etc.
You can also start by removing ALL those brown glues.

Okay here's a close-up photo of the connector from the inverter board to power supply. I removed the brown glue.

OK, take the reading after you activated the power switch on all the pin except the Ground pins.

Alright, with my multi-meter I switched it down to the DCV 2V setting (with negative probe on ground screw), inverter board disconnected from the test connector on the power supply, TV power on, and these are the readings I got:

                  PWM: 0.00
                  ADIM: 0.00
                  BL: 0.018
                  NC: 0.00
                  24V: 1.31
                  24V: 1.31
                  24V: 1.31
                  24V: 1.31

Your range is set too low. It must be set higher than your highest expected voltage, in this case 24v

When I set them higher (20V then 200V) the results were the same I just didn't get the extra data beyond the 1.3..and the 0.018 just showed up as 0.0 until I moved it to 2V.

Someone will have to help you troubleshoot your power supply as it is not producing 24v (and likely others as well)

Take the voltages on the power supply connector that goes to the main board and post back.

OK, the power supply is not putting out the 24vdc for the inverter to work, this can be due to the Main board is not sending out the PS_ON (STBY), or the PFC Voltage booster is not working, or the 24V power supply section is not working.
We will need the voltage reading on the connector of the power supply that goes to the main board.

So only standby (SB) 5V is working but the main board is not sending PS (PS_ON) to turn on the power supply. You can force on the power supply by using 470~1K Ohms resistor between SB and the PS PIN, but you have disconnect the PS pin from the connector on the power supply board since the main board may be stuck in the LO position.
BTW, did any one work on this TV before you have this TV?

Ha right..Standby-SB. I'm too young for my eyes to be failing me like this.

As far as I know I am the first to open this TV up. I've done repair projects in the past that required me to remove a pin after adding a resistor, but I actually added it to the back of the power supply in a very untraditional yet effective way following another's guidance. Do you mean along the same lines or am I waaay in left field?

Thank you budm and everyone else for this ongoing help.

Yes you can add it to the solder side of the power supply, I usually solder in the resistor so I do not have to worry about the alligator clips come off and shorted something out.

Okay so to recap: I should get a 470-1k ohms resistor and solder it to the SB and PS connector pin solder spot on the back of the board. I also need to remove the PS pin from the power supply connector. Correct?

After this is done it should (at the very least) point us to the issue?

I'll get this done as soon as possible and get back to you. Thanks.
