Samsung le40b530p7w vertical lines all over screen

This one came to me today and I haven't popped it open yet - will leave it till tomorrow. Guy said sound but no picture but I turned it on and it does this. The lines change when pressing buttons for menu etc.

What might I be looking at here? T-con? Tab-bonds? What's the betting?

I have seen this before and it was a bad panel. Not saying this one is but consider the possibility.

Oh well, not too worried if it is - this one's effectively a freebie. Will investigate more in the morning.

Re: Samsung le40b530p7w vertical lines all over screen

So I've got it apart. The tabs all look fine, no holes or burns - though they are getting a bit hot. Pressing on them makes no difference and freeze spray did nothing too. I've checked over the t-con and reseated cables but still the same. Display symptoms are a lot like yours Tom minus the burned out tab. Is it worth trying another t-con or will I be throwing money away? Anything else I can check?

By the way, a not very funny story. When I said it was a freebie, a guy came to buy another TV from me and this Samsung was the reason he needed a new one. He bought the other one but left this one with me to repair and will take it back and pay for the work if it's repairable. He just called me this morning to say he was mounting the one I sold him on the wall, put it down on the table and broke the screen! So now he's pretty desperate that I fix the old one. Poor guy.

Found a t-con for ÂŁ10 so taking a chance that it's that. Fingers crossed.

Oh man, that is bad luck! I hope you can get this one working now.

Turns out it's a bad panel as you suspected tom66. The new t-con changed nothing. After watching this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcBwTums_mI I tried disconnecting either t-con ribbon to panel and one half is working ok. I guess this one is going for parts then.

Score one more dead Samsung panel. Just had a 37" LG LED with a dead panel myself, AUO. And a 37" Toshiba LCD with an unrepairable tab bond fault. I see tons failed on eBay, etc. Too many panels dying, man...

Re: Samsung le40b530p7w vertical lines all over screen

This week was my first bad panel and first cracked screen. Had to happen sooner or later I guess. Even norcal in the vid I linked says that's why he prefers plasma, because too many LCDs going bad or getting cracked.

Another newbie question: what parts are worth saving/selling from a dead screen tv and what usually goes to the dump with the chassis? I took out all the boards, most of the cables. Kept a fair share of the screws too for spares. Anything else I should have before getting rid of it?

                        Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                        by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

Colorful LCD Vertical Lines on Samsung ue55es8090
                        by Falki
Hello there, ive recently found an older 55inch Samsung SmartTV.
Sadly it has vertical lines at the left and one line in the middle-right.

I have already tested out the connections and have looked at the soldered ribbons of the LCD panel to see if some contacts got loose by pushing them a bit but with no success.
I have factory resetted the TV as well but also with no luck.

I am afraid that it is indeed a LCD Panel issue but there are NO scratches or any impact-marks..

A similar issue has been posted as well but also with no actual response ...

Samsung LE32C530F1W with vertical lines on Screen
                        by Kambi13
Hello all, I'm dealing with a Samsung LE32C530F1W that now has vertical lines on the right side. It started with a ghost image on the top of the screen and then I tried the old trick of masking a few contacts in the flat cable that connects the T-Con board to the screen with some tape. It worked for a while and now out of the blue it turned into what you can see in the pic. I was able to get my hands on a known good T-Con board but the problem still persists. Now, what I've noticed is that the cooper colored flat cables that are directly connected to the screen itself are very hot to the touch...

LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE - Vertical Lines on Half of The Screen?
                        by ItalianSat
                        Hello Everybody,

I have a 40 inch LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE. Its problem is that there are Vertical Lines on Right Half of The Screen.

Interestingly enough, when I move my mouse (in the case if connected to a PC) or when I am watching the TV, lines also move. At first appearance, I had thought that the problem might arose from loose vertical ribbons (COF), but when I opened up the TV for further investigations, I realized that the problem cannot be solved by touching them.

Moreover, I detached the T-CON board for a new round of investigation. I personally...

Thanks for offering your assistance with this. I'm an electronics enthusiast with moderate level of competence (have a decent lab with two power supplies, microscope, DSO, hot air, good iron, can competently work at a component level on SMDs, design and solder own PCBs etc). I really enjoying fixing things and learning new stuff so took up a free 58" LED TV and have been googling and watching Youtube videos to see if I can fix this! I am happy to go down to individual component replacement/strip replacement etc - it's all in the name of learning.

The issues are as follows: the...
